Guest guest
Jaya Sri Radhey! In this 'pada' Gopi-Saint Mirabai compares 'Viraha Madhuri', Divine Love Ecstasy, to the venom of a SNAKE! HOW CAN I SLEEP WITHOUT KRISHNA? How can I sleep without Krishna? Wrenched from His Arms how can I survive? I am driven back by the Flames of Love. Without Him my house is dark and unwelcome. Of what use are lamps in His absence? Nor for me the pleasures of the bed: I spend my nights sleepless. DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHEN MY LOVE WILL RETURN? The lightning thrashes about in the net of black clouds: Frogs and waterbirds, cuckoos and peacocks Call out one another. IN VAIN I FIGHT BACK THE TEARS. TELL ME, FRIENDS, WHAT SHALL I DO? WHERE SHALL I GO? HOW TO UPROOT THIS PAIN? Like a "venomous SNAKE", HIS ABSENCE HAS BITTEN ME: I feel death in my bones. Go, bring the herb at once. WHO AMONG MY FRIENDS WILL RETURN WITH MY LOVE? YOU STOLE HER HEART, LORD. WHEN WILL YOU MEET HER? WHEN WILL YOU COME TO TALK and LAUGH WITH MIRA? (Source- 'Ananya: A Portrait of India' Padavali 2.72 - Hindi, By Sant Mirabai. Translated by R. Parthasarathy ) Similar Ecstatic Devotional Pada can be enjoyed reading at: http://www.jkp.org/literature/leela_madhuri/3.Leela%20Madhuri% 20Pads.pdf http://jkp.org/literature/index.html Jaya Sri Radhey! Guest guest
Jaya Sri Radhey! The heart of Mira is entangled In the beauty of the feet of her Guru; Nothing else causes her delight! He enabled her to play in the drama of the world; The Knowledge He gave her dried up The ocean of being and becoming. Mira says: Now that my gaze is turned inward, My whole world has become Shri Krishna; I see Him clearly and love Him dearly. --------- Come to my pavilion, O my King. I have spread a bedmade of delicately selected buds and blossoms, And have arrayed myself in bridal garb >From head to toe. I have been Thy slave during many births, Thou art the be-all of my existence. Mira's Lord is Hari, the Indestructible. Come, grant me Thy sight at once! ------ Similar Ecstatic Devotional Pada can be enjoyed reading at: http://www.jkp.org/literature/leela_madhuri/3.Leela%20Madhuri% 20Pads.pdf http://jkp.org/literature/index.html Jaya Sri Radhey!
