Guest guest
Today(28th April) is the 53rd Aradhana Day of Sri Ramana Maharshi. The following is a snip from www.self-realization.com Ramana Maharshi is an outstanding example of how someone, who is ready to realize the Truth, can realize the Self even without the assistance of an external Guru. Because, the Guru, or true revealer of the Truth, resides always within at the center of our Being. However, if a Self-realized Being is present, the presence alone is sufficient to assist any serious seeker in his quest and assure success. This is possible because pure Awareness is now able to express without the previous restrictions of the mind (ego). Ramana Maharshi was born in 1879 as Venkataraman Iyer in the village of Tiruchuli in South India. At the age of twelve, his father Sundaram Iyer died and Ramana went to live with his uncle Subba Iyer in Madurai. His classmates remember that Ramana had a strong tendency for religious ecstasy even as a student. Others remember his abnormally deep sleeping habits that led to playing tricks on the young Ramana while he was asleep. Apart from that, Ramana was also described as strong and intelligent. Ramana's life took a drastic turn when he was about sixteen years of age. A powerful fear of dying suddenly attacked Ramana but instead of running away, which he thought was no option, he decided to face this fear and investigate. Imitating a corpse, Ramana laid down and distanced himself from body and mind, pretending to be as dead as possible. Ramana entered the condition of silent Beingness and from thereon knew himself as pure Awareness. All fear of death had vanished once and for all. After this event, Ramana Maharshi had lost all interest in continuing a normal life. Feeling a strong attraction to the Holy Hill Arunachala, Ramana moved there and soon people who met him sought his advice on many matters. The most important questions centered around how others could follow where seekers felt Ramana must have gone himself. In answering their concerns, Ramana Maharshi recommended the concentration on "I" or the meditation on "who am I?" as a shortcut to the realization of the Self. Hari Aum !!! Guest guest
Jaya Sri Radhey! As a token of love, gratitude, dedication and homage to my Guru, Sri Kripaluji Maharaj, I post these verses from the 'Jagad Guru-Arati':- "jayati jagad-guru vara kI !! gAvO mili AratI rasika vara kI !!!" All Glories to the Universal Teacher of Divine Love! Let us sing homage offering 'arati' to the crest-jewl of Rasik Saints, Sri Kripalu ji maharaj! "guru-pada nakha-maNi-candrikA prakAza, jAke ura base tAke moha-tama nAza. jAke mAtha nAtha tava hAtha kara vAsa, tAte hoya mAyA moha saba hI nirAsa." pAve gati, mati, rati rAdhA-vara kI! gAvo milI AratI rasika-vara kI !! The divine effulgence which shines forth from the nail-jewels of His lotus feet destroys the dense, age-old darkness of ignorance accumulated in the hearts of the sincere seekers. The delusive power of Lord's illusory energy, Maya, having been made powerless, gets very much disappointed with those fortunate souls on whose head the Divine Master places His hand of loving protection. That blessed soul under His protection attains Supreme goal, the selfless passionate Love for the Divine Beloved and eternal Bliss. "are mana mUDha! chAmDu nArI-nara hAtha! guru binu brahma zyAma hUn na demge sAtha. komala kRpAlu baDe kRpA=sindhu nAtha, pAke inhem Aju tU anAtha ho sanAtha. inhIM ke AdhIna kRpA giridhara kI, gAvo milI AratI rasika-vara kI !!" O foolish mind! Stop relying on the worldly persons. Instead, seek shelter in the God-realized rasik-saint. Without the Grace of Sri Guru, even Lord Krishna will not accept anyone. Benevolent Sri Kripalu Mahaprabhu is the ocean of divine love and grace. Hence, why don't the orphan-seekers put an end to their material misery and spiritual quest by surrendering themselves to such a merciful Divine Master! Never forget that Lord Krishna's grace is always under the control of Sri Guru. "jayati jagad-guru vara kI !! gAvO mili AratI rasika vara kI !!!" All Glories to the Universal Teacher of Divine Love! Let us sing homage offering 'arati' to the crest-jewl of Rasik Saints, Sri Kripalu ji maharaj! "bhakti-yoga-rasa avatAr abhirAm, kareM nigamAgama samanvaya lalAm, zyAmA-zyAm nAma rUpa lIlA guNa dhAm, bAMti rahE prEma niSkAma binu dAm, ho rahI saphala kAyA nArI nara kI, gAvO mili AratI rasika vara kI." Guest guest
Jaya Sri Radhey! The Gopi-Saint Mirabai sings her homage to Sri Guru in this famous 'Bhajan'- "Mohe Lagee Lagana Guru Charanana ki.." "I Am Eternally Wedded to the Lotus Feet of My Spiritual Master" a Brjabhasa bhajana by Saint Mira Bai "mohe lagee lagan guru charanana ki, charanana ki guru charanana ki, charanana ki prabhu carananaki.." My translation: I am eternally wedded to my Guru's feet, to the lotus-feet of my Divine Preceptor, to my Beloved Lord's Divine feet! "charana binaa mohe kachu nahi bhaave jhutha maya saba sapanana ki.." Not a thing of this world appeals to me except my whole-hearted surrender to Sri Guru's feet. Now the entire transient world of Maya seems false like an illusion and a mere dream! "bhava saagara saba sookha gaye hain phikara nahi mohe taranan ki.." I am not worried nor concerned as to how I can cross the ocean of life and death, the 'samsara', which is completely made to be dried up, by His boundless Divine Grace! "mira ke prabhu giridhara naagara ulatabhaye morae nayanana ki.." Saint Meera bai declares in the concluding verse: My Divine Beloved and Master is none but the mountain-Lifter, courtly Lord Giridhara! My Guru's grace and blessings have turned my vision inward to the Divine realization of blissful spiritual realm. Jaya Sri Radhey!
Guest guest
Jaya Sri Radhey! Here is a bhajan by Saint Kabir ji in Hindi (along with my translation) telling the 'miracle performed by Sat Guru' - "gurukrupa anjana paayo mero bhaayi rama bina kachu dekhatha naaheem" O my dear brother/sister! My eyes have been anointed with the collyrium of Divine Grace by Sat Guru! Now nothing else comes into my view apart from my Beloved God! "andara rama bahera rama jaham dekhe vahaam pooranahi kaama" Internally I enjoy the vision of my Divine Beloved, in the external world also I perceive the presence of Lord and wherever I look I could only see the Blissful God! "jaagatha rama sovatha rama sapano mem dekhatha rajahi rama" While I am awake I visualize my Lord, when I am asleep I feel my Divine Beloved close to me, and even in my dreams I see only the enchanting Divine Prince Ramacandra! "kahatha kabeera anubava neeka jaham dekhe vaham rama sareekha" Saint Kabir proclaims in the concluding verse - 'This unique experience is so overwhelming and inexpressible that wherever and whatever I look at, everything just appears to me exactly as my Divine Beloved !'
