They may have apologized for the sandals, but they still have the

Nuts bag in the market.

What is interesting to note is that this is not the first time a

western company has pulled this kind of stunt. It is also interesting

that they don't use any western icon in a similar fashion.

Which brings me back to the question asked by jigyasa .. what is it

that allows them to blatantly indulge in such insulting actions?

Greed, possibly is the guiding factor behind this, and in a market

which is saturated with similar products, companies need to

constantly find ways to make thiers different. Anything exotic sells,

so this may be one of the reasons. I wonder however whether there

isn't a deliberate desire to be insulting to "Hindu" sentiments

because I don't see them using, lets say "Christ" on sandals, (which

would be just as upsetting to me as this!!!!).

I further feel there is little or no unity among "Hindus", so as to

make them a force to reckon with. The freedom given by the religion

to pursue diverse paths with diverse teachers has corrupted into a

form where each group is so engrossed in their own paths, (in fact

fighting trying to prove superiority over others) that the thread,

that binds the community seems to be lost. I don't see our mainstream

Gurus, calling for a coming-together for common causes; instead they

are busy pushing "their" jet-plane to nirvana. My biggest

dissappointment came when in a war-torn world filled with misery, I

haven't yet seen a single name-brand Guru, who has the ears of large

groups of people world-wide, give a call for a mass peace rally/

prayer/ meditation or any such event requiring the bringing together

of the collective consciouness of sadhaks.

Instead the only ones who seem to unify thier energies are those that

do so in hate and anger and separatist views promoting even more hate

and anger by extremist groups - both religious and political.

Further, brilliant web sites promoting each group, websites

parrotting already available texts and quotations, fund raisers,

grand meetings, all such activities have skyrocketed.

India lost to the colonial rulers who used the simple principle of

divide and rule; by playing on egos of each against the other. Today

we do it ourselves, we don't need to blame any external community.

I find myself reverting back again and again to the issues I raised

in post # 4651 (/message/4651)

because for me it all comes back to collective energy and

its effects. If postive energy does not "collect", to come together,

it cannot expect to achieve any force.

Come on members .. lets hear from you!!
