Salutations to Thakur, Guru, and Ma !

Sri Ramakrishna --"I and mine, this is what is called ignorance.

Rasmani built the Kali temple--everybody says this.

Nobody says that the Lord has built it.

So and so founded the Brahmo Samaj--everybody says so.

Nobody says that it came into being by the will of the Lord.

I am the doer, this is called ignorance.

O Lord, You are the doer, I am the non-doer ; You are the machine-man,

I am the machine, this is called jnana.

O Lord ! Nothing is mine, the Kali Temple is not mine--these are all

Yours. Wife, son, family---none of these are mine.

They are all yours, this is jnana.

People say : 'This is mine, it belongs to me.

Loving all such things is called maya.

When you love all, That is daya.

I love only the members of the Brahmo Samaj, or I love only my family-

this is maya.

To love people of all countries, to love followers of all religions,

this results from kindness and bhakti.

Maya binds man. it takes one away from Bhagavan.

Kindness makes one attain the Lord."

(SRI SRI RAMAKRISHNA KATHAMRITA. Vol. I., p. 244)

Maya is self-love; Daya is charity and kindness.

Jnana is the Yoga of the intellect through the activity of 'Not this, not this.'

God is 'not this', God is That.
