Dhan Guru Nanak says

I have seen many abodes, where groups of srogis, sudhs, sidhas

yotis and jains reside.

I have also seen various groups of the brave men and demons, gods who

drink nectar, and other saints, belonging to various sects.

I have noticed religions of different countries, but none seems to be

the religion of preaching worship of the creator by which the sould

becomes his slave.

All these are worthless, if these men do not earn the kind glance and

love of God and faith in Him.

Sat sri akaal.

With all my respect to Bhagwan Krishna, I have a question to ask

from Hindus. As far as I know about krishan, he was a naughty boy, a

lover boy who had many girl friends. He stole Makhan (butter milk)

and teased the elderly women folk of village. He also ran away from

battlefiled (hence he was given name Ranchhod ji). He refused to

help his friends Pandavas, by declaring that he will not use his

arms. Not only this he gave his strong army of Yadvas to fight

against his cousins Arjuna bhim etc. He could have evaded war of

Mahabharata if he wished because all respected him.

What is it then despite all his shortcomings/mischives he is

called a Bhagawan, A puran Avtaar.

Please dont take it as offensice as this is my real doubt and

many of my hindu freinds could not explain it to me

Krishna Avatar is a purna avatar, which encompasses all aspects of

spirituality like Karma Yoga, Bhakthi Yoga and Jnana Yoga. This

Avatar is one that is really difficult to understand as when one

contemplates more on it, one will find how the story seems to be

complete superficially, but when you look deeper, you find that at a

superficial level it's actually incomplete and he has hidden many

answers deep inside. It'l like the art puzzles we see, where you have

a painting, and another face or animal will be camouflaged so well,

that you really need to look hard to find it. Superficially the

picture seems complete, but that hidden face / animal is also present

and adds a whole new meaning when you look deeper. That is how

Krishna Avatar is with a myriad meanings when viewed from each

perspective, which is why there are so many doubts even to a Hindu.

Coming to your questions. As Pradeep pointed out, on the days that

Krishna stole the butter ( Makhan), the sales of butter were very

good that day. The gopikas loved Krishna a lot, but wondered why He

was stealing. To alleviate their doubt, one day he didn't go to steal

the butter , and that day, the butter wasn't sold out. He did not

steal to satisfy his desire, as He is the Creator, and can create any

amount of butter to his need, but did so only to Grace them.

That is however on a superficial level. There is a deeper meaning

inside. The butter inside is the atma (soul) that is confined within

the hard shell of the ego (the pot). If we offer our love to him,

he'll break our egos and will merge our atma unto Him.

Regarding the Kurukshetra war. Krishna did go as a messenger of

peace, and tried to talk Duryodhana out of war, but Duryodhana was

adamant and insisted on war.

There are probably many more explanations for each and every action

of His, but to even know of the existence of Truth at such a deep

plane, we need to contemplate a lot. One can never really know the

Avatar in its entirety. It's like 5 blind men feeling an elephant and

trying to describe it. One blind man caught the leg and said, that

the elephant is like a huge pillar, strong and mighty. Another caught

the trunk and said, it's long and flexible and can be used like a

hand. Another caught the tail and said it was thin and long. Another

caught the belly and said it was huge. All the answers are correct

each from their own perspective. But the elephant is beyond all that.

Similarly, all the explanations that we can offer are from our

limited perspectives and He is beyond all that.

Hope this helps.
