Guest guest
Hari Aum A question which has been baffeling the human mind for centuries, and which always remained elusive and without concrete results, is the question of freedom of human beings and the role of fate on his freedom. Each step of scientific, material and spiritual progress seems to be a step towards our freedom. But is it really our freedom or we are illusioned by our mind or by the matrix of energies running the universe ?? A Bhakta or a person who believes in a supreme Personal God would say,"We are bound by predestination and our so-called freedom to chose is the actually the will of God. It is he who decides" A scientific or logical minded person would say that we are compelled in our actions by the supreme intelligent power or by blind lower nature. Genes decide our body and mind; cause and effect control our actions and natural force determine our next course of action. A Poste-Buddhist hindu would say that our will is determined by our fate. We chose because our old karma force us to chose certain actions due to our sanskaras. But all above, in fact do not satisfy the mind completely. And each answer leaves more questions than an understanding concrete and confirmed. Particularly the third one may paint the whole picture in a black Tamsic state of inaction or accepting the game of lower energies. In fact Buddhism had a dark effect on already decaying Hindu society in India. It not only made us coward, made us incapable of fighting the aggressive enemies, it also broght into the hindu thought, more an idea of inaction, an idea of self denial, an idea of denial of the universe, an idea of aloofness, an idea of not loving! It is only after arrival of buddhism, that India started becoming slave of ourside enemies. Buddhism denies the presence of Soul and presence of a God, an idea on which the whole of Hinduism rely. In sanatan Dharma, Soul or Atma is the prime factor. It is the soul, the Atma for whom the whole creation works. If we take Fate as the prime mover of our will then the matter becomes more complicated. Fate is nothing but fulfilment of certain Laws of Nature. Positive energies should generate Positive effect and negative energies should generate negative effect. THis is the Law of the Nature, which becomes Fate for us. Nature obeys her Laws her Dharma dutyfully, without any mistake and this action of her, make us believe we are not free and some other force is deciding for us. But if we strictly go by this Law of nature, then anyone who has once done wrong, will attract more negativity, which in turn will generate more of bad karma....and one will be in this un-ending circle for ever. There will be No Moksha ever, if Nature continues generating cause and effect. Moksha is only possible if there is something more powerful, more commanding, and more dictorial than the Nature. And as per Hindu philosophy, it is the Soul which is supreme...not the Nature. It is for the Soul that Nature follows her path, obeys her Dharma. Soul does not desire anything, it only consents and soul's consent becomes an obligation for Nature. It is soul which has the real free will and by its free will, it can force Nature to change course. Then how this free will of the Soul works in the human form ? Guest guest
Namaste. I recall a good message posted earlier on this group. Once upon a time there was a poor man in the city of Varanasi. He was very pious and used to pray God daily. He used to ask every holy man he met why God is not taking pity on him and helping him . One day a holy man took pity on him and prayed to God to make the poor man rich. God being ever merciful appeared to the holy man and told him that even if God wanted to help the poor man it was of no use as the poor man's ego was coming in the way. But the holy man insisted that God should give a chance to the poor man. Atlast God relented and told the holy man "Well you see for yourself, I will give him a chance". Accordingly, God made a bundle of very costly gems and put it in the path of the poor man while he was coming to pray. On that day the poor man thought, "Well for the last forty years I am walking the same path so let me see if I can walk with my eyes closed". So the poor man started walking with his eyes closed. He hit the bundle of gems which the God had kept in his way with his legs but took it to be some stones and did not open his eyes and see. So he kept walking. A trader was coming at the back he saw the bundle and took it. The poor man remained poor as before. ----------------- Jaya Sri Radhey!
