Guest guest
I. Speciality Of Lord Datta & His Best Devotee Generally we do some service to the Lord and expect something good in return from the Lord. This is the norm of the general worldly business. The specialty of Lord Datta is that He announces His policy in the beginning itself. His policy is one-way traffic. You have to do service to Him but He will not do any thing good in return. Thus the business completely disappears. At this stage itself majority of the devotees drop out. Some devotees come to Him prepared for doing the service without any good fruit in return. After some time He opens His second policy. This policy is two-way traffic but it is different from our two-way traffic. He starts doing bad for our service. As the devotees press His feet He will be beating them with His stick. This is the true love. The devotee must have the divine knowledge to understand Lord Datta. By giving such troubles He is clearing all the sins. In clearing the sins He pays ninety-nine percent and the doer must pay one percent according to the rule of minimum justice. He appears to be giving troubles but actually He is clearing the sins. Then why He is not opening this truth. If the truth is not opened then only the true love exists. In the true love, one loves in spite of troubles from the other side. If the truth is opened this true love disappears. We will realize that these troubles are for his benefit only. Then we will tolerate the troubles from that angle. In such case it cannot be true love. Therefore Lord Datta maintains the secrecy. After clearing the sins, He will give boons. Without curing the fever, strong food should not be given. If it is given the patient dies. The demons were destroyed by such boons. There are three types of devotees. The low-level devotee asks for a boon like a demon. He does not give any freedom to the Lord. He decides that something is good for him and asks the Lord to give it. The devotee acts like a master and is indirectly treating the Lord as his servant. The Master asks the servant to do a particular thing without any comment. The middle class devotees ask the Lord to do whatever is good for them. They give some freedom to the Lord in deciding, which is good and which is bad for them. Upto this point they give freedom to the Lord. After this point the Lord has no freedom and He has to do good only. Thus these devotees give 50 percent freedom to the Lord. The best devotee gives 100 percent freedom to the Lord. He asks the Lord to do whatever the Lord likes. This devotee is prepared to receive the bad also if it can please the Lord. His only aim is that the Lord should be pleased by doing whatever He likes. This devotee feels that he is only an inert means for the play of the Lord by which the Lord is entertained. A player beats the ball by foot and is entertained. The devotee also likes to receive continuous sufferings, if such sufferings can entertain the Lord. When Jesus was doing the last prayer, He tried to avoid the future agony of death. For a moment He was vibrated with the forthcoming agony of crucification. But immediately He regained His originality and ended the prayer by saying “Let Thy will will be done”. He said finally that He is prepared to suffer if that is the will of the Lord. This is the best devotion. Lord Datta starts giving small troubles, which means that He is clearing the small sins. If the devotee is firm in his faith, then Datta starts clearing big sins. That means the small troubles will be slowly magnified into big troubles. When He clears your pronote of Rs. 100/-, He pays ninety-nine rupees and you will have to pay Re. 1/-. Then He starts clearing your pronote of one thousand rupees and then you have to pay Rs.10/-. You have to pay one percent of your sin according to the least expectation of the Justice. In the first stage Lord Datta keeps silent without doing any good for your service. This is the test of Brahma. This is a sort of initial training for the further tests. Then Datta starts troubling you for your service. The clearance of small sins is the test of Vishnu. In the third stage big sins are cleared and your troubles are intensified. This is the third test of Rudra. From one angle these are the tests to find out the strength of your faith and truthness in your love. In another angle these tests are secret clearance of your sins and your purification to make you eligible for His grace. Only the best devotee can stand before the special Lord Datta. Datta is true God and His preachings are true. The benefit you get also is true. The real Sun can remove the real darkness by his real light and imaginary Sun cannot remove the real darkness. You are spending lot of your time and energy in analyzing these worldly affairs. You are egoistic and you think that you are intelligent to solve the worldly affairs. By your intelligence and intensified analysis through long discussions, you will find that the worldly affair about which, you have taken so much care utterly flops at the end. If you spend even one-tenth of that time and that energy in the service and devotion on Lord Datta, your worldly issue succeeds beyond your imagination. In fact the servants of Lord Datta attend your worldly affairs. These worldly matters are below His level. His level of work starts when you go to the hell after the death. He will speak to Lord of the hell not to enquire about you and close the file since you are in His service. Thus you are blessed in this world and also in the upper world. Your faith is not 100 percent. To practice this if you are in His constant devotion all your duties will be also discharged by the power of Lord Datta in a fraction of second and in an excellent manner. One can test this concept in the case of one worldly affair and see whether what I say is correct or not? You can test this in one case and you will experience the truth of My preachings. at the lotus feet of shri datta swami surya om_agni_devi <no_reply> wrote: Of course its nonsenses that a guru can bear our sins. Guest guest
dear friends In the previous ages the people were with high spiritual standard. There was no much need preaching the divine knowledge. Even if there was a small necessity, the servants and disciples of Lord Datta used to come as human incarnation. They could solve the minor problems and used to leave the world. But today the situation is completely different. The spiritual standard has fallen. Generally, when the standard falls the people become ignorant. It is easy to teach the ignorant person and a scholar. Therefore in the present situation, if the people were simply ignorant, it would have been very easy to preach them. But today the spiritual standard is less and the people have become very very intelligent. The meaning of Veda is twisted to suit their convenience. At the same time they want the highest result. For Ex: Geeta says that the fruit of the work should be sacrifice (Karmajam Bhudhi Yuktahi Phalam Tyaktva) and says further that if one sacrifices the desire for the fruit of the work, he can easily sacrifice the fruit of the work. The reason for not sacrificing the fruit of the work was found to be the one desiring for the fruit of the work. Therefore desire for the fruit of the work is to be sacrificed so that one can sacrifice the fruit of the work easily. But the people have taken the essence of Geeta as the sacrifice of the desire of the fruit of the work and not the sacrifice of the fruit of the work. Thus Geeta is misinterpreted and the sacrifice of fruit of work is buried because it is not convenient due to their love on their families and greediness. One sacrifices the desire for the fruit of the work and enjoys the fruit of the work. He says that he will get salvation because he followed Geeta. Similarly Veda says that one can attain by the salvation by the sacrifice of money (Dhanena Tyagena). But people have introduced the word ‘na’ which means no before the word ‘Dhanena’. Veda is twisted and a wrong meaning is extracted like this: One cannot attain the Lord by earning, enjoying and sacrifice of money. This led to the inaction. People have become lazy and do not work to earn the money. They started depending on others claiming themselves as saints. Like this real meaning of Veda was twisted in a wrong path was established. People have become very talented in creating such twisted meanings. Thus in Kaliyuga people are not ignorant, but they have become over intelligent. The development of science also made them to analyze the spiritual concepts with opposing tendency. Scientists have become atheists forgetting that science is also a divine knowledge given by the Lord called as ‘Pravrutti’. Under such circumstances nobody else than the Lord Datta can clear the situation. The ‘Satguru’ Himself as to come down whom is the Lord in the human form. This is the reason why Lord Datta Himself started coming down to this world in human form in the present age. at the lotus feet of shri datta swami surya om_agni_devi <no_reply> wrote: You are just trying to divert people from the truth. Guest guest
dear friend please read it carefully. in the first para He is talking about normal people/devotee. In the second paragraph, He is talking about a real devotee. Lord suffers the sins of His real devotees only but not all X,Y & Z. I. The power of sacred water to cure disease and relieving the sins Gita says ‘Nadatte Kasyachit Papam’ which means that the Lord will not take the sins of any soul. The verse recited by the priests while serving Teertham, says that all the sins will be removed. This contradicts the verse of Gita. The verse of Gita is a stronger authority. Another verse says that one has to undergo the results of all his deeds whether good or bad (Avasya manu bhokthavyam). Therefore at the time of taking the sacred water a person might have completed the result of his sin, which is in the form of disease. Others may have to continue with the disease because the sin was not completed. Therefore the theory of the verse of the priests is wrong. We do not doubt the power of the Lord. But we say that the power of the Lord is not in the Theertham. The power of the Lord cannot fail in any case. Even in the cases of Sun and Fire, which are controlled by God, are not failing in their powers. Sun always removes darkness. Fire always removes cold. Of course the incarnations of Lord Datta clearly show the transfer of sins of His devotees on Him and Lord Datta suffers the sins of His real deserving devotees. Therefore neither your worship nor the sacred water is powerful without the will of the Lord. The will of the Lord to undergo the punishment of your sins comes only when you are a real devotee by serving Him practically without aspiring any fruit in return. The Lord gave the judgement and He only gives the results of your deeds. He will not contradict His own judgement. The Dharma deva (Judge) is only His external dress. He is the internal person in all the forms of deities. Therefore He cannot contradict His own judgement in another form of deity. Once in a college a head of the department resigned His headship and the letter was sent to the principal. But the same head was also the principal. The head went to the principal’s office and rejected his own letter!! This incident actually happened in an engineering college in which I was also serving as a professor. The Lord will not cut such a joke. The present tradition is making the Lord as such a joker. in spirituality, blood relations do not have any meaning. that too Lord is attracted by true devotion only and nothing else. at the lotus feet of shri datta swami surya Baba ji <beirut_ka_baba wrote: So the point of discussion was that some guru or avtaar can bear our sins and save us from its bad fruits. Guest guest
Namaste. Spiritual Greatness of the Gopis It is no use enjoying pleasure after pleasure and possessing immense wealth nor is it any use becoming a great ascetic besmearing the body with ashes. It is little use surrounding oneself with fires on all sides and sitting under the sun in summer, or acquiring the power of floating in water, or extending one's dominion across the seas. You may repeat sacred formulas times without number, practice austerities and exercise control over body and mind, observe fasts for any number of days, undertake pilgrimage to a thousand sacred places; but who cares for all these? He is really an uncultured boor who loves not, nor enjoys the blessed company of the beloved child of Nanda. 1 You may possess a number of mansions cast in gold, the splendor of which dazzles the eyes, and which are perpetually illumined by rows of bright rubies and other precious stones. To mention only a single fact indicative of worldly greatness, you may have a regular troop of guards waiting at the door all the twenty-four hours to regulate the entry of visitors. Nay, you may throw pearls to the crowd in charity after taking a plunge in the Ganges, or chant the Vedas twenty times or engage in meditation of the Lord. All of this is of no use, says Rasakhan, if you have not been able to love the yellow-robed Sri Krishna by offering Him the heart! It is presumptuous of me to attempt to write anything on the Love of the Gopis. 2 The truth about that Love may be known to a certain extent only by such lovers and devotees of the Lord. To them the truth may be revealed in all kindness by the Blissful Aspect of the Lord embodied as Sri Radha, and by the Supreme Lord Sri Krishna himself, the transcendent ocean of Bliss and Love, the embodiment of Truth, Knowledge, and Bliss. One who knows the truth about this Love cannot, again, speak or write about it, inasmuch as the sports of the Lord at Brindaban, through which that Love is revealed, cannot be expressed through words. It is something beyond human conception, transcendent, supernatural. The inhabitants of Vraja of the time of Sri Krishna were none other than the eternal associates of the Lord, who came from beyond the region of Maya, and manifested themselves on earth in order to participate in the boyish sports of the Lord under the direction and guidance of His Divine Energy, Sri Radha. Even the creator of the universe, Brahma, soliciting the dust of the feet of these Mahatmas (great souls) that manifested in Vraja, said: O Lord, may I have the rare good fortune of being enlisted as a servant of Thine either in this very birth or even through birth in one of the lower species of animals, so that I may be able to serve Your sacred feet. Enviable is the lot of Nanda and the other cowherds of Vraja, who have got Thee, the Supreme Eternal, Blissful Lord, for their friend. It is a great privilege to be born in Vraja, and more particlarly in Gokula, even as an insect that crawls on earth, for that may afford one an opportanity of sanctifying one's head with the dust of the feet of any of the blessed inhabitants of Vraja. 3 How great were the inhabitants of Vraja, the dust of whose feet was sought by Brahma himself! Spurning liberation, they have gone far beyond that state in spiritual realization. Even Brahma admitted this when He said, "Lord, You vouchsafed salvation even to Putana, the demoness, who came with the evil intention of killing You, painting her breasts with deadly poison. Will You confer the same thing on these lovers of Yours? Nay, You will have to remain bound in perpetual debt to them." The Lord Himself acknowledged this in the following memorable words addressed to the Gopis: O dear ones, you have shown your Devotion to Me by snapping off the strong ties of the family and of relations. lt is not possible for Me to repay the debt of this sacred Devotion of yours even if I serve you for the whole lifetime of a celestial being. You alone can discharge me from this obligation through your own generosity. Although as Lord and ruler of the universe He keeps all beings, gods, demons, Gandharvas (demi-gods) and men alike, perpetually bound by the fetters of Karma, he allows Himself to be tied to the husking-stand by the milkmaid Yashoda [Krishna's mother]. The Lord of Maya, who makes the entire creation dance to the tune of His Maya [Play of Illusion], loses the game in favor of His playmates, and as a condition of the game plays the horse and carries the cowherd boys on His back! Blessed are those men, women, and children of Vraja! It happened, one day, that Devi Yashoda was engaged in some household duties when the child Sri Krishna became obstinate and asked the mother to take Him in her arms. The mother turned a deaf ear to His importunities. This upset the child, who began to weep and roll on the floor of the courtyard. Just at that moment appeared on the scene Devarsi Narada [a sage], who had felt an impulse in his heart to witness the boyish sports of his beloved Lord. He found that the Lord of entire creation, the Abode of Supreme Bliss, was rolling on the ground and clamoring for being picked up by the mother. The celestial sage was driven into raptures at this unprecedented sight, and addressing Yashoda, he exclaimed: Your fortune, O Yashoda, is indeed incomparable. I wonder how many sacred places you visited and what virtuous deeds you performed in your previous births! Wonder of wonders! The Lord, Creator, and Sustainer of the Universe, whose grace even great gods like Indra [Lord of Heaven], Brahma [Creator], and Shiva [Destroyer] find difficult to obtain, that Supreme Brahma is rolling in dust seeking to obtain a seat in your arms. God, the embodiment of supreme Knowledge and Bliss, who makes the whole creation dance like a puppet tied to the strings of his Maya, Himself dances in the courtyards of the Gopis enchanted by their Love. Who can adequately praise their lot or describe the greatness of their Love? Says Rasakhan: Shesha (the serpent-god), Mahesha (Shiva), Ganesha (the elephant-god), the Sun-god and lndra, on whom all these gods constantly meditate, Whom the Vedas describe as eternal, infinite, partless, indivisible, and differenceless, Whose Name and glories are incessantly sung by Rishis [sages] like Narada, Shuka, and Vyasa—even they cannot exhast his glories and themselves feel exhausted: Him the cowherd girls get to dance before them over a cup of buttermilk! Praising the lot of the Gopis, Sri Shukadeva, who had supreme indifference to the enjoyments of the world and had established his absolute identity with Brahma, said: Neither Brahma, nor Shiva, nor even Sri Lakshmi [goddess of Fortune], who constantly resides in the heart of the Lord, could obtain that rare and incomparabe boon (of Love) from the Lord, the dispenser of salvation, which fell to the lot of these supreme lovers, the cowherd-maids of Brindaban. Similarly says Sri Uddhava [a disciple of Krishna], foremost among men of wisdom: The rarest boon (of Love) that fell to the lot of the damsels of Vraja, who during the Rasa dance had the rare good fortune of clasping the arms of the bessed Lord to their bosom and had all their desires fulfilled thereby, was neither obtained by Lakshmi, who resides permanently on the bosom of the Lord, nor by other goddesses who possessed the grace and fragrance of a full-blown lotus. In one of his memorable songs, the celebrated poet-saint Surdas says: The Gopis of bessed memory enjoyed the childish sports of Sri Hard [Krishna] to their hearts' content as a matter of course; Lakshmi Herself was not privileged to obtain this favor even in her dreams. Whose true nature the Vedas are trying to determine though with little success, whom Sri Shiva is constantly engaged in studying and.whom Shesha himself is trying hard to fathom but in vain; Who eludes the gaze even of ladies belonging to the Kinnara, Gandharva, and Naga classes (the leading types of demi-gods). The damsels of Vraja catch hold of the self-same Lord (now disgised as a cowherd boy) and make Him dance like an ape to the tune of their clapping. Addressing words of endearment, they smilingly gaze on His charming contenance and then clasping Him within their arms they engage in sport with Him. Forgetting all their household work, the bessed ladies follow the two brothers (Krishna and Balarama [Krishna's older brother]) wherever they go. Having heard the sweet nectarlike stories of the Uplifter of hill (Sri Krishna) all other nectar appears inferior in taste, Who will covet the other trivial pleasres of the world, when even the joy of liberation appears as unpalatable as salt? Addressing Uddhava, whose one ambition was to be born as a creeper or a shrub or an herb in Vraja in order that the sacred dust of the feet of the Gopis may fall on his head, and who having assimilated the discipleship of the Gopis had assimilated the lofty sentiment of the Gopis, the Lord said: O Uddhava, neither Brahma, nor Shiva, nor Sankarshana (Balarama), nor again Lakshmi, nay, not even My own soul is so dear to Me as are devotees like you. This may have given the reader some idea about the spiritual greatness of the Gopis. How it is possible for a humble mortal like me to describe that Love which made the Gopi the dearest object of the Lord Himself? The eligibility for this Love is attained only after one has developed supreme indifference to the enjoyments of the world, and it is only through the grace of those exalted souls who have direct experience of the transcendent region that a devotee may expect to tread the thorny path of Love and obtain a taste of that nectar. For this, however, one is required to pursue a course of spiritual discipline. Through mere study or book-learning, it is not possible to reach that height of spiritual experience. An attempt is, however, being made here to give a gist of what I have been able to gather from various sources through the grace of God. Those blessed and revered souls, who are steeped in this Love, will kindly excuse this guilt and impudence of mine. By Hanumanprasad Poddar ©1980 The Laughing Man Institute. Guest guest
Namaste all. It's well known to many devotees that Krishna has displayed quite fondness of butter, milk, curd, etc. during His childhood pastimes. He has showed even willingness to dance for receiving those offerings of milk products, at the beck and call of simple village women, just like an ordinary innocent child. This has been beautifully described and recited by the Rasik Saints in the following traditional Braj poem: zeSa gaNeza dineza maheza sureza hu jAhi nirantara gAvai jAhi anAdi ananta akhaNDa acheda abheda subheda batAvai | nArada se zuka vyAsa raTai paci hAre ta-U puni pAra na pAvai tAhi ahIra kI chauhariyA chachiyA-bhari chAcha pai nAca nacAvai || He whom Shesha-naga, Ganapati, Shiva, Surya, and Indra constantly glorify, He whom the best of the Vedas describe as 'beginningless,''unlimited,' 'unbroken,' 'impenetrable,' 'nondual,' and 'dual' He whose glories are sung by Narada, Shukadeva, and Vyasa, but whose furthest extent remains beyond even them -- that very Personality of Godhead, these cowherdesses can force to dance tempting Him for a spoonful of their buttermilk!" It is also declared in Shrimad Bhagavatam (10.11.7): gopIbhiH stobhito 'nRtyad bhagavAn bAlavat kvacit | udgAyati kvacin mugdhas tad-vazo dAru-yantravat || 7 || The gopis would say, 'If You dance, my dear Krsna, then I shall give Youhalf a sweetmeat.' By saying these words or by clapping their hands, all the gopis encouraged Krsna in different ways. At such times, although He was the supremely powerful Personality of Godhead, He would smile and dance according to their desire, as if He were a wooden doll in their hands. Sometimes He would sing very loudly, at their bidding. In this way, Krishna came completely under the control of the gopis. It is spontaneous Divine Love that Krishna is so attached to, though of course buttermilk may be the tangible offering of such pure, passionate love. He becomes completely controlled by selfless Divine Love (tad-vazaH), and even forgets His own Supreme identity. Sri Kavi Sarvabhauma in Padyavali-132 stated: kvAnanaM kva nayanaM kva nAsikA kva zrutiH kva ca zikheti dezitaH | tatra tatra nihitAGguli-dalo ballavI-kulam anandayat prabhuH || 133 || 'Where's your face? Where are your eyes? Where's your nose? Where are your ears? Where is your shikha?' Instructed in this way by the cowherd girls, the Lord put His lotus finger wherever they told Him to, and He thus delighted them. Krishna is longing for this selfless Divinelove; It is also known from the Shvetashvataropanishad (6.8) and other sources that He factually has nothing to do except revel in Divine Love Bliss perpetually. The Mundaka (3.2.3) and Kathopanishad (1.2.23) have repeatedly reminded us that we cannot enter into these sublime truths except through His Divine grace. But even if we sincerely try to admire and consider just what such pure passionate Love means to Lord Krishna, and how much He is both attracted and attached to the diverse unfathomable manifestations of His own unlimited inconceivable (Svaroopa Shakti) pleasure potency, also called 'hladini Shakti', the seekers of Divine Love can benefit so much!
