Guest guest
Dear Babji, I think you have missed the point. At the present moment there is no one in India who can speak for the Hindus. When BJP came to power, they started pursuing the same Muslim appeasement policies of the Congress. So the field is wide open in India, for the communists, the pseudo secularists, the Govt. or anyone else to say or do anything against the Hindus. Why only Hindu temples are being taken over by the Govt. If it is a secular State, the same law should apply to the religious places of other religions in India. Why there is only Muslim Law Board operating in the country in parallel with the Indian Legal system, which some times even contradict the law of the land. These things are possible only in India and no where else in the world. Hindus, Muslims or anyone else living in America or Canada or some other foreign land, are obliged to obey the law of the land. A few years ago an inter-faith conference was organized by the United Nations, and the Hindus were represented there by the VHP. I remember, later on someone in Indian Parliament, raised an objection saying what authority VHP had to represent the Hindus there? Considering that our Indian Govt. has shut eyes to conversions, illegal immigration from Bangladesh, the demographics change taking place in the country and only lip-sympathy to the victims of Islamic terrorism, I think it is important that Hindus have a body in India that can speak in one voice for the Hindus. It is a mammoth task to get all the Hindu Groups (Samardayas) to get together on a single platform, but an effort has been by HH Swami Dayananda Saraswati in this direction and it appears to be a success so far. This Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha meets once every two years and so far it had two Conventions, one in Chennai and the other in Mumbai in October last year. As the saying goes, 'Unity is strength', unless we Hindus can speak with one voice, no one is going to take notice of our individual blurbs. I give below an excerpt from one of the resolutions passed at the last convention of the Sabha in Mumbai: "Religious Conversions. Taking note that, Explicit goals of large-scale conversion to Christianity in India are being vigorously pursued by overseas missionary agencies; and vast sums of money are pouring into the country under various pretexts, to finance local proselytizers and to make available allurements of all kinds to the poor people of the country. It is resolved that a.. The Acharya Sabha members shall resist and check religious conversions and ........ b.. The Acharya Sabha members shall make efforts to foster a strong sense of Hindu identity and self-esteem in poor and disadvantaged communities ...... c.. The Acharya Sabha members shall specifically discourage outdated and cruel discriminatory practices ....... d.. Hindu Dharma Rakshana Samities shall be set up at district, taluk, and village levels." In spite of the individual defects of egoism etc. I feel that there is need for the united voice for the Hindus primarily at home. On the Net I see that lot of material is being made available on Hinduism by some dedicated members of the society and their efforts must be appreciated by us all as a service to the community. At the present moment there is no one in Thanks swamiji...yes i missed the point. I thought that this samiti will direct the Hindus. But the samiti of Acharyas is certainly a good idea. Such an organisation will certainly have some say. What I feel is that this organisation should be given wide publicity through internet/media so that people know something is being done and hindus are not dumb sheeps available for driving anywhere. The renaissance i see now among hindus is noteable. The biggest change is in the youth. While the youths in our times were away from the religion, i see a big change in todays youths taking interest in Hinduism and its philosophies. I remember when there was any saint in a public meeting, only toothless oldies were present... half sleeping and half listening . And today 50% of the listeners are youths. Our duty as a sadhaka should be to give proper guidance to our children, tell them about the greatness of our religions...reveal to them the social-evils prevailing in India and their non-approval by our philosophy. and also to tell them that about the Negative Energies around us in the name of religions, and ask them to be on alert.
