Guest guest
How DOES one worship Kali? I'm sorry, I just joined. I'm interested in worshiping both her & Shiva as they're the only "omnipotent" energies I've felt, but I'm not sure how to go about doing it. I know that's a very broad question, so maybe you could just give me the basics? If there are such things. Many thanks in advance! Guest guest
Dear Sister, There are diverse ways of worshipping the Paramatma. She is present both internal and externally . She deludes the world by Her Mahamaya as if She exist apart from us.Yet she is the very essence of our existence . Truth is one but paths are many . You could enter the house by various ways. There are many ways to go back home . You have stated that you felt both Shiva and Ma is the only omnipotent energy ,this happens probably because one of them is your Ishta Devata (choosen ideal of worship) but remember all are Her forms and by Her will She became Many but in essence She as Brahman alone exist . This could be understood by worshipping her daily thus making your mind ideal for meditation when Ma comes and sits in the chamber of your heart and guide you to the highest pinacale of spritual realization known as advaita vedanta. Briefly any method that could ensure your mind and heart stay affixed on Ma could be called a method of worship .You must choose the right path of worship( according to your temprement) to merge or yoke your self with your choosen ideal and this is known as yoga . Please refer to Devi or Baghavad Geeta to identify various yogas available like jnana yoga ( intellectually inclined) bhakthi yoga (apllicable more to your heart),karma yoga (those incline to service ) and there are other methods like sahaja yoga , tantra yoga , laya yoga etc.In essence all this path leads to the same Supreme Being. Generally the most popular Ma worship could be clasified as right path worship and left path of worship (vama) .Tantric worship of Ma is usually associated with left path of worship.Ma worship in India is more prominent in West Bengal in Calcutta( stand for Kali Katta earlier ).Here the most prevalent worship of Her takes place as the Dakshina Kali apart from Kalighat , Dakshineswar is the famous Ma temple where Bhagawan Ramakrishna praticed his sadhana(spiritual practice) .On how worship is done for Her here you could read Usha Harding (you could purchase from Kali Mandir website) Bhagawan Ramakrishna have learnt worship of Ma as he was a learned brahmin priest (the orthodox way).Apart from that you could get a copy Simplified worship as how Bhagawan worshiped Her after his enlightment at Dakhneswar temple.Puja (Worship) could be done with any article as stated in Bhagawad Geeta or with 5 articles as you could see in simplified Bhagwan's way of worship or with 16 article as stated by Swami Satyanada Maharaj in Kali Puja (you could obtain it from Devi Mandir website). You could also worship Her through Homa or yagna (sacrifical fire).Atmika puja (external puja ) ideally lead to manasa pooja (internal pooja) which should ideally lead to concentration(dhrana) that leads to meditation (dhyana). My brother ,Varuna have shared with you other ways of worship.(you could go to the website he have informed ,to get more details)Just like you ,we are all getting together and learning each other's method of worship to have Her Vision and Realization. We just started our discussion on this matter so please stay and enjoy our experience in diverse way of Her worship. My understanding above is based on my own experience . So please feel free to share your views and all views are manifestation of the same truth. You could say a glass is half cup full or the same glass is half cup empty . It is the same fact looked from different perspective ,so feel free to comment. Jai Kali Ma !!!!
