The method of worship which I practise does not have just one scripture of

origin. It is based on study of several branches of Ma literature --

Puranas, Tantras, and devotional songs -- and also on my own experiences

and those of people who have worshipped with me.

Several years ago I visited the temple of Kali at Adyapeath in Calcutta.

There I was given a printed statement authorized by the President of

temple's Sangha. It contains a passage said to express the will of the

temple's Divine Mother.

She says:

"I do not want to remain installed in one place, on the contrary it is my

will to be worshipped in each house and every family, not merely according

to the rites laid down by the Sastras but it would suffice for anyone to

offer me food... in a language arising from the core of the heart..."

I use English words in puja because that is what arises from the core of my

heart. Actually I was doing so even before I read the statement above. I do

also recite stotras from scriptures, such as the "Namastasyai" stotra from

the Devi Mahatmya (the Candi).

May the Goddess bless your path,

Colin

Namaste Brother Colinji,

I am glad you are here to further enlighten us on the your method of worship.

Maa is always guiding us earlier I did not know the source of this method of

worship now She is helping us to know them . Thank you Colinji !!!

Would you be able to share which part of the scriptures you have quoted would be

of usage in the method of worship at your place, for the members of this group?

Could you share the ritual method used and their significance in your own

experience . I beleive nobody could explain it better than you do.Rather than

having it from 3rd party Colinji can be the best person to explain them.

Furthermore for those incline to worship in such manner would know whom to get

in touch with and why the ritual is done is such manner. This a platform of

devotees and your are our guest of honour today, if Colinji accept our

invitation...........

And if any members of this group would like to know more how could they get in

touch with your goodself ?

Dear devotees, we are lucky to have Brother Colin with us . I personally had the

rare privilage of reading The Ferment magazine and known him for sometime now.

We could for a minimal amount and it is very educational as well.

Jai Kali!!!

p/s : The excerpts from Adyapeeth temple reflects Bhakthi yoga as stated in

Bhagavad Geeta and it still echoes in my heart when Lord Krishna said you could

offer even leaf to me so long it is done with pure love .

Namaste Brother Krishnan,

I'm glad my message was of interest.

Instead of talking just about my own experience, I want to say something

about what many people in western countries are experiencing. The emergence

of diverse forms of Neopaganism and Wicca is a process in which many

thousands of people in western countries are discovering the Goddess.

Mostly, they call Her by European and Middle Eastern names, rather than

Indian names. Yet, many of the practices found in the Neopagan and Wiccan

communities are similar to ways of worship described in the Tantras. For

instance, worship in a circle (which the Tantras call chakra puja), rituals

involving fire, worship of a priestess (bhairavi), ritual nudity.

Most of the people with whom I worship Mother Kali here in Australia come

from a Neopagan/Wiccan background. I mean they were practising Neopagan

Goddess worship before they started to worship Kali. The practices I have

mentioned were already familiar to them.

Regarding nakedness...Neopagans and Wiccans use the term "sky-clad", which

is an English translation of the Sanskrit term "digambara". As you surely

know, Kali herself is said to be digambari.

Here is a verse from the Tantrasara of Krishnananda Agamavagisha, which I

found in Pratapaditya Pal's book _Hindu Religion and Iconology According to

the Tantrasara (Vichitra Press, LA, USA, 1981). It is part of a dhyana of

Smashana Kali:

nagno bhutva mahapujam kuryat ratrau viseshetah

I translate:

Naked, one performs her great puja, characteristically at night.

I've written quite a lot over the years in the journal Ferment about what

this actually means...

>And if any members of this group would like to know more how could they

>get in touch with your goodself?
