We will assist Markji ("Ji" is a respectful way of addressing a person like" Sir") in whatever way we can towards achieving Markji's divine pursuit. Firstly I could see 2 parts to this sankalpa (aspiration or resolution) in your heart; a) Devote myself b) How to begin worship a) Devote myself I have intentionally put this in front as in most of the spiritual practice (bhakthi yoga , raja yoga , kriya yoga ,sahaja yoga ) this a prerequisite requirement. Without devotion which comes out of unconditional love and absolute faith (not blind faith!!!) one could not go to the next level as to how to begin worship. It is your love for your ishta devata (chosen ideal of perfection) that brings you to search for the way of proper method of worshiping Ma .For does not the lover find out what is the most liked manner of approaching his lover??? That is why in this age it is more conducive to take the path of bhakthi yoga.(Kali Upanishad-nothing got to do with our Ma Kali but yet an important text on this matter)with a lot of emphasis on sankirtana( sing her Glories) To cultivate devotion in my searching years, I always followed Bhagawan Ramakrishna Paramahamsa( devotee of Ma Kali too!!) sayings of "Bhagawan, Bhaktha. Bhagavata !!! " First learn to get nearer to Him – Bhagwan (meditation, Ma way of worship, singing Ma glories etc.) ,second get close to her devotees - Bhaktha ( Guru is the closes to Her , in fact it is She Who actually manifest as your Guru, saint ,sages walking mendicant, saintly personalities, divine places, holy people , religiously inclined people, spiritual aspirant like your self) and Bhagawatha ( religious scriptures concerning Him or Her like Devi Bhagavatham. Devi Gita Chandi Path ,Kalika Purana and other books about Ma written by Ma devotees) Remember as your love grows your perception about Ma also grows(Just like a lover gets to know his lover better once she becomes his wife !!!). You will realize everything is Ma manifestation only . All are your brothers and sisters, every mother is your mother, every father is your father ,everyone is one big family of Ma including the trees. Actually all are Ma Children only!! You will also be humbled to realize that Ma is with Form, Formless and also beyond both of this that the mind fails to reach. You heart will outpour the love you have for the entire humanity and you will see Ma actually manifesting everywhere. You will feel the path that you have taken are all guided by Her, the people you meet, the things that you do , the thing that happens in this world all guided by Ma ,all the good and the bad .You will live in harmony with the world around you realizing in essence only She exist and the world is Her Divine play . There will only be love to give in your heart and love to take. You will diminish and only She will exist in you. You are Her tools in this world, She is the Charioteer and you're the vehicle. She moves and you would have moved. She speak and you would have said. All religion paths lead to Her. She is known in different name and different places by different people . For not the your mother is also known as wife by your father and the same person known as daughter by your grand mother. You will love all no matter how different they are or their understanding of Ma is .You will only have unconditional love to give for all…………………… That is a small tinge of devotion for Ma that you will cultivate when you ask on how to devote myself to her and this can be achieved by spiritual practice alone …………….. b) How to begin worship A lot people in this world say I will worship in whatever way I can She don't mind so long I love Her . Yes, in Bhagavad Gita it is said offer even a leaf with pure love He will accept. But remember the condition here is pure love . What most of Ma children fail to realize is the method of worshipping Her is actually are the rituals to cultivate pure love for Her. Method of worship is realized by great-devoted highly spiritually evolved souls to help us to cultivate pure love towards Her. The scholar says Bhagawan Adi Shankaracharya have classified Hinduism in few main frames that will be Shaivite (Shiva as Choosen Ideal) Vaishvanaites(Vishnu as Choosen Ideal) Shakthas (Divine Mother as Choosen Ideal) Kaumarams (Lord Shanmuga) Ganapathites(Lord Ganesa) and Suryas(Lord of Sun worship). We are looking at the Ma worship from Shakta worshipper point of view as the other frame might have a smaller method of worshipping Her ad She is not their main chosen deity. I will shared some of the methods there is available today. Remember all this come from proper guru parampara (spiritual teaching lineage) Please make your on choice according to your bhava (spiritual fervour) . The Simplified Worship According to Bhagawan Ramakrishna This booklet written by Swami Bhajananda will help you to learn the way Bhagawan Ramakrishna worship Ma Kali known as Bhavatarani Ma and it will be 5-article worship. This is the most simple conventional way of worship for Her that is available without initiation (if you will like to recite the bija mantra then initiation is necessary) You need to get the book for it. b) Maabataakali Here the worship is a bit more extensive and Chandreji the caretaker of the Maabatakali Foundation will share the method of worship, which have codified western and eastern approach in them. c) The Ferment My brother Colin Robinson is a great devotee of Ma Kali and ardent follower of Jung philosophy. You will see their method of worship differs slightly from each of the above and as Maabataakali you will see there will be codification as well. d) Devi Mandir This is the most extensive conventional Kali Puja based on ancient text with 16 articles of worship that I know. Each Sanskrit text is given an English explanation with the Sanskrit text also available for your studies. You need to get the book for it. There other 2 websites that you might want to check out, that will be Anandamayi Ma of Kiroli Babaji and Haidaikhan Babaji method of worship which applicable but the text of worship is not easily available. I had the privilege of knowing these people and all of them are wonderful ways of getting closer to Her, You will realize there are so many ways and form of Her that is worshipped in this world ( I have left out the Shaivaites and tantric worship of Her.If you are interested, I can give you some lead on this as well but remember Bhagwan Ramakrishna said tantric practice is like riding the tiger if you fall down you might become its victim as well !!). Please choose the one that appeals to your heart. I searched just like Markji once (remember your are a spiritual aspirant now !!!) and finally met my Swamiji ( I am lucky to learn the methods above on my way towards Him) These are Her basic method of worship. Markji must remember as you learn deeper into Her method of worship you will need a guru to guide you through thus initiation will become necessary requirement. That is why from day one please choose a learning place which has a proper spiritual teaching lineage (guru parampara) as well !! I am keen to share one method on this post , if Markji wish please say so and I will share it for benefit of all Kali children out there….. Ok we have shared on Bhagawan ( way of worship, devotion, love etc , Bhaktha ( the math and ashrams which available via website above ) and now on Her scriptures -Bhagawatha which will teach you more about Ma so you know which form to choose (your Choosen Ideal-ishtha devata) if you are still not sure once you have visited the web page above. As there are so many doors to the same house. That is why we in this not sure how to share our experiences with you .
