Guest guest
Om Kali, Firstly, I would like to thank all those who contribute here, this will only be a healthy group if all ask questions and give feedback on all issues relevant to Ma .Please continue this good habit as for those who are still agitated to post a comment please do not refrain yourself anymore . Secondly only issue raised like this can expand our discussion further ……….Sameerji thank you again and please allow me to share my understanding of this matter; Sameerji you are lucky to hear it is only a drop of blood everyday . The recent Asia Time magazine even talked about sacrificing people in Asia in name of Ma Kali. My observation on this matter is of three- fold and I will post on them in each different post ; 1) Offers drop of his blood to Ma everyday I see Kali as Brahman (following the lineage of my guru, and guru parampara also other Ma devotees like Bhagawan Ramakrishna Paramahamsa , Ramprasad Sen, Kamalakanta, and so forth…….) I see Ma Kali is formful (bhaktic) formless ( Vedantic) and also beyond that !! My blood is of no use to Her as she is beyond all wants. There is a difference in seeing Ma as deity only and Ma as Supreme Divinity. Usually there are 3 level of devotees, those in lower level worship Her out of fear. Those in next level worship out of wants. And the higher level out of love for Her . The best part is you get to choose where you want to be but realize the result limited in its effect. My sadhanas to Maa have always been based on authorities of the scripture. Thus before any practice I would substantiate them with the scriptures first. I realize the Dehra Dun case is form of tantric practice. Thus I would look for the relevant nigama text if any (When Ma Parvathi talked to Lord Shiva on spiritual practice ) or agamas text ( When Lord Shiva talks to Ma Parvathi on spiritual practice). Now this must be inline with the other tantrik text because the meaning is often obscure and need to refer to various texts before coming to its true meaning. I would usually use Mahanirvana Tantra , and refer to other Sir Arthur Avalon books . Then we must check the conformation of this practice in Kalika Purana (it is a upa purana) as our Chosen Ideal in Ma Kali. However upa (small) purana is a small purana and the gist of God in Feminine Worship is in Devi Bhagavatha which a Maha (great) purana (there other being maha purana for Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva). Then again I have to reconcile with Devi Gita (the summary of Devi Bhagavatham ) before ensuring it is inline with the 108 of Upanishad of the 4 Vedas . Any time it is contrary to any principle stated in the line of deduction I will drop the idea of practicing such a way. This is because the hindu shahstras(scriptures) are structured in such away that whatever the rishis ( I call them spiritual scientist) of the lore have understood as internal truth (sanatana dharma) that do not change was passed in spiritual lineage (guru parampara) by hearing them (sruthi) from their masters this was codified into 4 vedas and the end part always had the summary of the vedas which was the upanishad. There is 108 accepted upanishad available. However this upanishad have been recorded (smirti) in 5 main manifestation of the Supreme Being ( the one into many) so one can understand this internal truth by way of worship of the same Supreme Being in various form according to one's own perception. This is known as one's ishtha devata (Chosen ideal of manifestation) Theses myriad of forms of the same Supreme Being could be codified into 5 main forms of worship that is Shaivisim(Lord Shiva followers ) Shaktism(Ma devotees) Vaisvanism(Lord Vishnu),Ganapathites (Lord Ganesa) Kaumaram( Lord Shanmuga )and Suryam. To cultivate your devotion to your Chosen ideal to such a point that you could realize that there are actually having various forms and also can exist without form .Nay !!! Even beyond that, the puranas are given by the seers to us .Mahapurana are the main guide and followed by the upa puranas. This purana without you realizing will slowly guide your mind towards the internal truths stated in the Vedas . The upa purana is written particular to your very own chosen ideal in such away that you mind will be directed towards the ultimate goal .It will describe they way of worship, the conducive time for her meditation on her various form and various ways of worship as well. Thus for us Kalika Purana would be upa purana and as we are Shakthas our Mahapurana would be Srimad Devi Bhagavatham. Tantra teaches us to achieve what can be done through yoga also through bhoga –by not disregarding the world, spiritual realization can be also achieved and as I said earlier this could be agamas or nigama text formation. In this age, tantric approach has faster effect but be forewarned as what Bhagawan Ramakrishna have said that tantrik practitioner is like riding on the lion, if you fall down you will be eaten by it !!!!!!!!!!!!! Then that practice must be inline with main tantric text like Mahanirvana tantra , Kulanarva tantra and so forth. My assumption is most of the time people don't go through all this structure methodologies and practice as what somebody teach them usually have not read the proper text either. A proper bonafide guru would always share his scriptural authorities on his instructions. That is why we had structured gurukal (spiritual schools) where the disciple stay with the guru until he comes of age those days Even choosing of Guru ,it is good if we could refer to Guru Gita and Kularnarva Tantra. I could not find any scriptural authority on the ex-army officer practice.. More information is needed in this practice to identify the relevant scripture base of this very funny practice.
