Guest guest
Om Kali Srihraji, Is this the proper way to whorship Mother. This a very good question. It makes the spritual pursuit constructive and meaningful. The scripture says there is 3 ways of acquiring knowledge(Patanjali Yoga Sutra); 1) Through direct perception- by your own experience 2) Through Guru- in order to have your experince your need to be guided through the detail of methods used by other spritual aspirant and even need not have the same experience but at least you know the tools used . 3) Through scriptures - now the Guru (in traditional sense)usually do not evolve new way of teaching but always based on the scripture which are actually codified after years passing through oral tradition which came from seers who have realized the truth earlier . Now that is why scripture becomes very important. How do we know it is proper way ? If there is reference in Maa related scripture then that will be a good indication. If it comes from Guru and he could show the reference in the scripture better still. Now if it comes from Guru and there is reference in the scripture and using the method you realize the ultimate truth that would be the best. Coming back to your question since you have no direct perception and no a guru's guide(Your guide is actually Divine Mother herself later She will manifest into a human form for you) the best way is to rely on scriptute first. By research Srihraji would realise Maa manifestaion occurs firstly at Markendaya Purana on Devi Mahatmaya and later evolves into Kali Purana .She manifest in 2 forms Her chaturbhuja (four handed ) and Dasa bhuja (10 handed) at Chandi Path also known Devi Mahatmaya. Off course there are other forms describe in Kalika Purana but I am of preference to chaturbhuja form thus Chandi scripture seems appropriate to me .Now Srihraji will realise the path one choose depends on the form of his Ishtha Devata (Choosen ideal) The way of worship that we practice have been stated in verses in Devi Gita and some tantric scripture (which I will discuss when we go thought the ritual if you are interested.)Thus as Shaktha your refer toSrimad Devi Bhagvatham your Mahapurana and as your Ishtha is Kali Maa your refer to Devi Mahatmaya and Kalika Purana and according to the form of your worship you choose the method.Look into Devi Gita to substantiate the practice your follow on Divine Mother you worship. If it all in line then you can be contented that you are in proper line ..... How do I know that I should follow which sampradaya and lineage At this moment you do not have to find your sampradaya and lineage yet .Remember as i have stated above once you have understood the way of worship than you look for the proper guru in the same tradition to guide you through. As your interpretation of Guru might be influence by your western understanding of guru as a teacher . You need to assess your Guru qualification by cross checking his traits with those stated in Guru Gita and Kulanarva Tantra. Here it stated the prerequisite of Guru and also disciple as well. Now you need to understand what the succesion discipleship that the teaching have been passed through .Who was the original seer and what was the original scripture. Other wise everybody could claim to be a spritual teacher so long they can read scriptures!!!!!From the lineage you will know the origin of the teaching as well as the authencity of the followers before your Master.I mentioned both (sampradaya and parampara) because in India the tempremant of spritual aspirant are assessed by the lineage the follow. (because there are thousands of shaktha, vaishnavas ,shaivas and others) What am I doing here is sharing the method of worship but need not be the only method that is applicable to you .Thus I suppose you will try it out first and see the impact on to yourself .(Absolutely applicable in spritual search) Upon affirming the path you have choosen you will want to go into the details of the practice that is when initiation is neccesary and then finding of proper guru lineage and at the origin of the core scripture will become a nessacity.Until then relax and try to learn the methods used first . I learnt few ways the worship Maa according to different lineage but this appeals to me so this can also happen to you .Until you are convinced that path of worship is for you you need not search on the guru parampara and sampradaya yet. What is so special in giving the explanation for a beeja mantra and no I don't know what u mean. Most of the time if you go thorough the scripttural text the bija mantras(seed mantras) are not explained to its essence and the scripture goes short of explaining the significance but only reminds it should not be used by the unintiated. A lot of practioners do not know the meaning of this mantra and merely recite them knowing them to be powerful.Swami Satyananda have mastered variuos language while staying at Himalayas and explain the meaning in sanskrit based on grammmarian Sage Panini himself. Thus he will be able to share with you if the bija seed of Kreem(Seed mantra for Maa Kali ) , how should it be pronounced , what are the combination of the vowel ,what the vowels represent ,what is the breathing technique whilst it's recitation(pranayama) and what are the inner meanings. This you will not get unless you are very very well versed with the scripture and the language the tradition uses. Similary as for the one who is not well verse all this means the same ; Kali /Mahakali /Kalika but for the learned it signifies diffrently................
