Guest guest
Namaste everyone, Since my sampradaya gives me freedom to associate with other traditions and lineages, I really would like to learn the Puja arts. The Hindu community in Montreal (where I reside) is pretty closed to Westeners. I contacted every priests, brahmins and pandits by fax, mail, in person and email but nobody wanted to perform the namakarana- samskara rite of passage. I really feel I belong to Sanatana-Dharma, especially of the Shakta sect. What would be your advice to start to build satsang with fellow Hindus? Can namakarana-samskara be performed at distance? It's after reading "How to convert to Hinduism" by Sadguru Subramuniyaswami that I felt this urge to convert completely. I obtaines a letter of severance from the religious groups my parents baptized me in (which was a hard procedure in my case - it took about 6 months before the ending-). Being physically distant from my Guru-Mother is a great teaching. I get some cyber-satsang with fellow gurubhais and other disciples of my Parama-Guru, Sri Neem Karoli Baba but I would love to enter in bhava with fellow brothers ans sisters. What should be done next? Thanks a lot! With prem, Varuna always the my Guru's padukas P.S Please excuse the English mistakes, French is my native language. Either way, perhaps you could contact the Sivananda Vedanta Society: Sivananda Yoga Center 5178, Saint-Laurent Blvd Montreal H2T 1R8 Laurier Station Tel:(514) 279-3545 http://www.sivananda.org/ They are a traditional Hindu temple affiliated with the Divine Life Society in Rishikesh. Guest guest
Om Kali Ruchiranandaji, >Since my sampradaya gives me freedom to associate with other >traditions and lineages, Yes, but remember with great power comes great responsibility. A gold hunter once was told there is gold under the ground .He dug 2 feet at west did not find anything then dug another 3 feet on the south and tried again on the north another 4 feet . Finally he gave up saying there is no gold under the ground. Another person came and dug for 6 feet continuously and consistently with a lot of faith and found the gold .Now if you see the first digger he dug more than what the second one did but did not find the gold because of did not continuously dig at same place .Similarly in spiritual life what path one has chosen if he is sincere in that very path he would realize the truth. The freedom given is to realise all path as one ................. I really would like to learn the Puja arts. We would be glad to share them with you. However, what is your temperament(bhava)?? >The Hindu community in Montreal (where I reside) is pretty closed to >Westeners. I contacted every priests, brahmins and pandits by fax, >mail, in person and email but nobody wanted to perform the namakarana- >samskara rite of passage. In Hindu samskaras , the namakarana rite are actually naming ceremony that is done when a child is few months after being born. Today some organization have even gone to the extent of using it for conversation. That is why it is important to follow shastras and proper guru to learn this in its actual content. If you ask any traditional hindu to conduct a namakarana rites for your self off course they will not be keen as you are not a child anymore !!!! I really feel I belong to Sanatana-Dharma,especially of the Shakta sect. Please learn more on Shakta scriptures and writings to know what Shaktha scripture and path actually represents .Sir John Woodroffe book known as Shakthi and Shaktha would be a good help an introduction.!!! >What would be your advice to start to build satsang with fellow >Hindus? If building a satsang is what concerns you then I will be more than glad to pass this to your good self . Because there are ample of satsang groups around But if building a satsang group for you to learn is of your concern then learn as much as possible and practice them first. If flower is ready with honey then the bee will come searching by itself .Make your body the temple and place your Chosen Ideal in the lotus of your heart. Then other who needs to learn will come searching……………. Thus learn and practice until there is a need to give and receive ………………… Kalika Putraji is right there is no conversion in Hinduism. If you cannot see the truth every where this is not going to be the only place you could see them. Truth is one, paths are many . Sages of the lore believe every path can lead to the same source so long one practices sincerely. There is no scriptural evidence showing such action before . It is ok if this preferred path but no path is a wrong path. Bhagawan Ramakrishna use to say everybody claims only their watch is showing the right time . Pray to God sincerely to show you the path to him and he will guide you through. If you need systems to strengthen this process in your heart than Kalika Putraji methodology shared will definitely help you through…. Jai Kali !!!! P/s ; May Maa bless you in this spiritual path !!!!!!!Join the world’s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. Click Here
