Guest guest
Dear Bhaktas, This is in regarding to the question put by one of the group members whether Mother will care for the needs of a devotee as he thought that She was indifferent to him recently. The answer is in the 2 nd paragaraph. This extract is from "THe Hindu news paper". Prayer enhances faith in God CHENNAI SEPT.21 . Human birth is a gift of God. The difference between humans and other living beings is their capacity to discriminate between good and bad. The bodies of living beings and the celestials are given only for experiencing the acquired Karma. Human beings alone have the scope for spiritual evolution by undertaking spiritual practices. Saint Tulasidas remarks that without knowing how fortunate human birth is, some people aspire for heavenly life. Moreover, even among the celestials there are disparities. One who is blessed with human birth must therefore not fritter away the opportunity and aspire for the goal of liberation which will put an end to rebirth. Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa has underscored the significance of human birth and pointed out that God determines the birth, lifespan and the experiences (both joy and sorrow) of every being in a particular birth. None can interfere with the divine will in these matters. Besides, joy and sorrow are attitudes of the mind to experiences in life and differs from one person to another. Even if one is a spiritually exalted person these cannot be wished away. In the case of the God-realised, devotion will enable him to accept the vicissitudes of life as God's dispensation. The doubt that will arise is why God allows His devotees to suffer. Saints often give an example for the reason why even devotees who repose total faith in God undergo suffering. It is similar to a mother who adores her child spanking it when necessary to correct its faults, which is necessary for moulding its character and behaviour. The experiences of life are meant to help the person progress spiritually by developing maturity of mind. In his discourse, Swami Gautamananda said daily prayer to God enabled one to remain focussed on the goal of liberation. It is essential to allot a certain time for prayer everyday, as it is not possible to withdraw oneself from worldly engagement. Prayer is the art of attuning oneself to His infinite grace, which is available for all. Prayer is also the means to thank God for all the blessings of life. God's grace is unfailing and it requires total faith to elicit it. Like a mother feeding her infant because it is totally dependent on her, divine grace comes to the aid of the devotee who reposes implicit trust in God, which is expressed in prayer. Prayer increases faith in God. Om Sri Lalitha. ______________________ Missed your favourite TV serial last night? Try the new, TV. visit http://in.tv.
