Nicole/ Pujas: An Introduction

Well, my Ma Kali statue is quite a bit blacker than my dancing Shiva bell,

but still bronze. She has four arms on either side, positioned in such a way

that it reminds me a bit of a spider. Three of them on each side reach up

and one on each side reach out. The ones on the side look like they are

holding scrolls. The ones that She holds out look like Her thumbs are folded

in under Her other four fingers, or they are holding scrolls, too.....I am

going to have to get a magnifying glass.

She wears a short skirt that has a large flower on the back, right at Her

tailbone. There are four petals, each with three divisions. To tell you the

truth, the divisions in the flower petals remind me of the Awen, which is a

Druidic symbol of three rays of light, or divine light, however you want to

look at it, and the four petals remind me of the seasons or directions and

they way that we had things arranged on a year wheel in our grove. The

centre of the flower is round and raised and is surrounded by 13 tiny little

triangles.....I am going to stop looking because my eyes are crossing, its

small:-)

She has a necklace on, but it isn't heads. I can't tell you if this is

supposed to be teeth or quartz points because if I look one way, it looks

like crystals and if I look another way, it looks like She is wearing a

necklace of teeth. The belt that holds up Her skirt and has the flower on it

has the same things. Again, they look like they could be fangs or crystals.

Hmmm....maybe even blades, if I look yet again:-)

Her breasts are bare and her belly looks rounded. There is a sash carved on

Her front below Her belly that looks like a moon or even a wave. Its very

pretty.

Her face is smiling, the one that you see directly ahead of you. She wears a

really tall head-dress, though, of other faces. The trim that edges this

head-dress has what looks like twisted ropes or snakes around Her head and

bones going straight up and down over Her ears.

She has four faces on top of Her head that show anger, fear, happiness, and

one looks almost "resigned"....the only word that comes to mind. The top

face looks very serene and sits alone on top of the other four. The hat on

the top of this head is worn down but it looks almost like a nipple:-)

Her feet are bare and it looks like She has a couple of twisted bracelets

around each of Her ankles.

Well, what does this sound like? My dad said that he picked them up from a

vendor in a place called The Russian Market. I think that was in Pnom Penh

(I hope I spelled that right!!). He was quite fascinated by the people that

he met there, especially this hermit who lived in the jungle.

Everyone called him the Snake Doctor, and he could literall cure any snake

bite so long as you could get the patient to him. Dad and one of the

interpreters spent some time with him learning about some of the plants in

the jungle, which came in handy a few times.

Everyone have a good day!!!

moved to my present location, even though its rural, I had a hell of a time

trying to connect to Them. It was a really hard adjustment to this area,

because my grove and my gods had become a big part of my identity.

dark moon this summer, where They led me to a place called French Cross, not

far from where I live. There is a big cross monument there and Ma Kali was

standing on top of it. I thought this was odd, since I never dreamed of Ma

Kali before, nor did I know anything really about any of the gods from the

East. Anyway, She was standing with Her hands on Her hips, like some farmer

surveying his crops. Brighid and Sylvestrus walked up with me, and then

Sylvestrus said "Well she's all Yours now." and then They vanished.

self-conscious. Then I woke up quite suddenly (possibly more to do with my

son bouncing on my bladder than for any mystical reasons:-) Later on that

morning I was throwing out boxes in my studio and finishing my unpacking.

Something tinkled in the boxes and I pulled out two little bronze statues

that my father had gotten when he was in Cambodia serving under the UN in

1993, when I was 21. One is a bell, with a dancing Shiva on it. He looks

really happy and lively. The other is not a bell, but a statue of the same

height, of Ma Kali, with Her many arms and many faces, looking sternly on

one side, happy on the other, etc.....

take. My father got them, because he became fascinated with Eastern deities

while he was away. Later on I was talking to my dad and he mentioned his

statues. "Oh, I always meant to give them to you because you were always

more into this than me. I see that you took them when you left." I didn't

know what to tell him so I told him about my dream.
