Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I have been to the Shri Maha Kali Devi Mandir in Brooklyn New York. In fact the head Pujari there is my Guru. In this temple the Shakthi of the Mother is invoked into the human body and she is called upon to look after her children with sickness diseases and many other problems. The power of Mother Kali, Madurai Veeran, Mother Kahtayree, are invoked into the mediums and the dieties come to speak to there devotees. I am the head Pujari for the Shri Maha Kali Ammaa Mandir in Toronto, Ontario Canada and we do the same type of worship and invoke the same Shakthi every sunday. For further information please contact me at kali_mandir67 Kali_Ma, "Faith and Wisdom" <spinningwheel130@h...> wrote: > Namaste everyone, > > > I found one,in Brooklyn at 170 Van Sicklen Ave. Has anyone been > there? Guest guest
Thank you for replying to my post. I am at once old and new to Kali's worship. I have been devoted to her since I was in high school and began to seriously worship her a few years ago when I first started college. However,I am a lone worshipper,so I am not advanced in my worship of her, plus I have alot to learn as I am not from a Hindu(nor Indian for that matter) background. But I look forward in advancing my faith practice. What would be your advice for begiinning proper worship? Also do they convert? I would probably be the only African-American hindu that worships Kali, but thats fine. Thanx again for replying Jai Ma Kali Imani When the sky is cleft asunder, when the stars are spread across, when the ocean is about to burst, when the graves are turned upside down, every soul will know what it has given, and what it has kept back.>"shady_5254" > Kali_Ma >Kali_Ma > Re: Kali temples in New York City? >Wed, 18 Feb 2004 13:22:55 -0000 > >Hi Everyone, > >I have been to the Shri Maha Kali Devi Mandir in Brooklyn New York. >In fact the head Pujari there is my Guru. Guest guest
Hi, Actually you are wrong. Mother kali has many devotees from differnt races and backgrounds. If you go to the Shri Maha Kali Devi Mandir in Brooklyn you will see black, spanish, white and indian people. The universal mother sees no colour or race, we all are her children and she loves us all equally. I would advise you to go to the temple and speak to my guru he is a living encyclopedia of the universal mother. Pray to her sincerly and she will give you all the knowledge you seek from her. She is very great and powerful. Just a tip if you decide to go to the temple please make sure you keep a fast for three days. When you wake up friday morning stay away from meat, alcohol, sex, and fish(you can eat vegetable, but no meat, fish or eggs). Do this untill you go to the temple on sunday and after you leave the temple you can eat drink and do what ever want. Please contact me if you need any more information. Kali_Ma, "I. H. Guest guest
My advice to you would be to pray with love and sincerity. When you pray with love and sincerity your prayers are answered, always treat yourself and others with respect because the devie lives in all of us. So if you disrespect yourself and others you are disrespecting her. As for "converting" there is no need for all of that. You are a child of the universal mother so there is no need for you to be "converted" to worship her lotus feet. As long as you love and respect her she will always be there for you. Please take my advise when and if you decide to go to the temple in Brooklyn keep fast from friday. When i say fast I mean when you wake up friday morning do not eat meat, fish, eggs, drink alcohol, have sex or masterbate. This must be done untill sunday afternoon. Once you leave the mandir you can resume doing these things. If you go there you will get an opportunity to speak to the divine and universal mother. If you do go consider yourself very lucky and know that she has called you there. Not everyone in this world is lucky enough to actually speak to the universal mother. Well I hope this helped you out, if you need any more information please don't hesitate to contact me. Our temple e- mail address is: kali_mandir67 Jai Maha Kali. Guest guest
Hi Shady -- I find this info fascinating. Apparently your temple has someone who ritually channels the presence of the Divine Mother Kali? This isn't mainstream Vedic Hinduism -- I forget the Sanskrit term for "possession trance," but it's more common in folk traditions, I think. I'm someone who teaches about Hinduism to various Neo-Pagan audiences. Western people drawn to Kali are usually interested in Tantra and Left Hand Path techniques -- using meat, fish, wine, grain, and sex as the five sacraments. Interesting that your temple advises against flesh food, alcohol, and sexual activity before meeting with the Goddess. Does this imply your temple is not Tantric? I know a Wiccan High Priestess who bought a Kali statue, and took it to the Ganesha Temple in Flushing to be consecrated for worship. The Temple pujaris told her to be careful not to worship Kali when she (the Priestess) was menstruating. The Priestess told me, "That's just patriarchal bulls**t! Mother Kali's hair is uncombed because She is menstruating. I go out of my way to worship Mother when I have my period." I also heard that one shouldn't worship Kali if you have an open or still healing wound. Does your Temple have restrictions about bleeding? I'd love for someone who's been to the Brooklyn Kali Mandir to talk about their experience. -- Len/ Kalipadma On Thu, 19 Feb 2004 14:46:14 -0000 "shady_5254" <shady_5254 writes: > I would advise you to go to the temple > > and speak to my guru he is a living encyclopedia of the universal > mother. son phan
Hi everybody, I would like to learn Tantra but I don't know where there is a Tantric temple in New York city. I found some address of some Hindu temples but I'm not sure whether or not they are Tantric. Could any of you please show me where I can go for receiving the initiation & sadhana of Ma Kali or Sri Shiva, so that I can practice at home? Thank you Son Phan
