Guest guest
Hi All M new to the group .Went thru the past few posts and m putting forth my thoughts on the currently going on topic of Sacrifice. Many of u will have read the ChandiPath(Devi Mahatmyam) . There the slokas clearly give how Kali devoured the Daitya(demons) during the war with the Demon king Sumbh. Her drinking of Blood to enable the death of Raktabija is clearly mentioned where Maa Durga herself asks her amd Shivduti to do it. Those who have read about the life of Ramakrishna will have gone thru one of his visions where he says he saw a Beautiful lady emerge from the ganges and start walking towards the temple. As he saw,she seemed to grow pregnant .This pregnancy quickly developed and she gave birth to a child there itself on the road up . Suckled it and fed it . And after some time of luving it suddenly tore it to pieces and ate it! The reading appears outrageous and demonical on 1st reading. But remember that hinduism is highly symbolic. We abor sacrifice 2day because we value and stick to life and the body. But when v look at it deeply the body has no significance ,its only the body that comes to an end- so whats the fuss about ? A sacrifice was meant to be something which could be offered which is dear to heart . It need not be a human or animal . It has to be of something which I value .Sacrificing an animal symbolised being ready to offer wealth and love at her altar . (remember animals were the prime form of wealth when the practice of sacrifice originated). Human sacrifice was never meant to be forced . Degeneration and influence of 'pundits' and twistings of human nature gave rise to the current form of forced tantric sacrifices. (incidentally sacrifice is typical to hindus, greeks, pagans, aboriginals, etc across the old world). Some1 mentioned he offers his blood and feels good -- u will coz u r offerring Her what u value most and not smething thieved . But beware of falling in luv of offering something for her luv and luvig the act of offerting it.Its like the path becomes the goal and goal is obscured.Typical of all those stupid cults that bloom and commit mass suicides ! All the above i write is with reference to the practices in the Dakshin sadhanas only . For the vam -margi sadhanas the rules ,philosophy and practices r quite different and an area better kept in veils. Y differnt ways if there is only 1 mother ? Dont all religions say there is only 1 god ? COz each individual is different ,all sons(and daughters) r different and the Divini Mother has given each a path to tread and walk on suiting his /her personality(prakruti is the real word). This post is getting a tad long now ,so will close of . Manoj.
