Guest guest
Jai Srimannarayana! Dearest Family, Adiyen is seeing this very popular number everywhere in our culture. There are 108 beads on the mala; in the Vishnu Sahasranam, where the actual naamas are chanted, this number also corresponds to the amount of groups of specific naamas; when archana is given, 108 naamas are chanted. Can You enlighten adiyen on the apparent significance of this number. Peace and blessings be on you all. Respectfully, Adiyen Keshav Ramanuja Dasa _______________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Guest guest
Priya Sriman Kesavji! Jai Srimannarayana! Your curiocity to know the relevance of number 108 is much appreciated. There are somany interpretations to this number. And it is widely used in somany occassions. Let all those be there, yet, we give you a unique explanation, given by our a:cha:ryas. We always consider our own existance first and then the body next. If anything goes in accordance with the body we accept and implement that otherwise, we give it up. Then If something that we liked(this feel of liking is itself a form of knowledge)we accept and do that or otherwise, we never accept that. While counting number 1, we can take ourselves. Number 8 is representing our body, made of 8 components, as mentioned by Lord Krishna in Gi:tha 7th chapter. The middle 0 represents omni-petence. Tht means God. He is always OMNI-POTENT, that means PARUPU;RNA TATWAM. If we keep Him in the middle and use our knowledge andalso the body, our life journey becomes confortable. In other words, surrender to God Lakshminarayana and lead your life, He will take care of our lives. So while doing all auspicous acts, our people observe 108. There is also another interpretation revealed by the great gurus that 1+8 make 9. We have nine types of relationshps with God. Those, if realized by us, will enrich the value of our life and make it PU:RNAM. These are only a few ways of looking at it. Jai Srimannarayana! =chinnajeeyar= Messenger - Talk while you surf!
