Guest guest
Respected Swamiji, My husband belongs to the Tengalai Vaishnava sect whose family are firm followers of Your Holiness. He got his Samasrayinam from You during Your visit to the US. I belonged to a Vadagalai family,(Ahobila Mutt followers) and had my Samasrayinam when I was only 9 years old. I have been advised by the respected elders of my husband's family to get it done again by Your Holiness because the whole family should follow one guru. This really makes sense and I would like to get my Samasrayinam and Bharanyasam from Your Holiness, whenever God wills. I just don't want to be a "Guru Drohi." Will my action constitute Guru Apacharam? I had been imparted only the Dwaya mantram during my initiation, so long back, and I have not been chanting the same. I know in my heart only SrimanNarayana is my Sole Refuge and You- our Spiritual Advisor. I would deeply appreciate any advise you have for my dilemma. Jay SrimanNarayana! Humbly, Usha Sataluri
Guest guest
Srimathi Usha Sataluriji! Jai Srimannarayana! We are happy to know your interest in learning things. There are some minute differences in deciding the concepts between the Vadagalai & thrngalai doctrines. Any way both belong to the same Ra:ma:nuja lineage. And both should say 'Ramanujadasa' only. Even the A:cha:ryas when they do the Samasrayanam should think that they are the hands and mouth of The Great A:charya Ramanuja, and it is only that acharya initiating the devotee and not the one who gives the pancha Samskaram also called as Bharanyasam. The a:charya should think that this devotee is the direct disciple of A:cha:rya Ra:ma:nuja and a class-mate like (sabrahmacha:ry) to me. We both along with other devotees will sing the praise of our Guru Ra:ma:nuja. All these join together and ultimately offer mangalasasanams to The Lord Srimannarayana. We are not saying that all the gurus are like that, but, that must be the thought every a:cha:rya must have. Yet the disciple, who got the samskara should accept tht the present guru is the shore to enter into the ocean of God's compassion through the steps as Guruparampara. Gurus declaring that they have xx..many disciples and yy.. many sishyas, are considered to be theives, robbing the very precious wealth of Lord (owning the souls as their sishyas, who are the sole preperity of Lord)of this Universe. According to the tradition, Guru in our Ra:ma;nuja sampradaya, gives all the three manthras at a time and there will be no other added activities later. One more thing we will declare to you is that if the whole family is able to take initiation from one guru is really good. In case that is not possible, then taking from another guru, belonging to the same tradition will be good. Even if that also becomes impossible, then taking the initiation from the guru, who is docrinally nearer, that is closer to the sampradayam is also good. This case applies ONLY IN "IF" case. We are sure you understood the essence. Jai Srimannarayana! =chinnajeeyar=
