Guest guest
Jai Srimannarayana! Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja China Jiyar Swami Thiruvadigale Saranam! This is an attempt to capture a tiny portion of His Divine discourse on Srimad Ramayanam in 1994 on the occassion of first Virat Vishnu Sahasra Nama Parayanam on the banks of Krishna river, in Vijayawada. Shri Swamiji said "God has taken many incarnations to give us a good path to follow, to give us a divine life and more often to protect us from our own misdeeds, as Matsya, Koorma etc. He wanted us to know that the life of a Human is most noble and valuable among all the four forms of life in this world.(The four forms are Deva, Manushya, Thiryak, Sthavara; Deva includes all gods, demi gods, demons, yaksha, rakshasa etc. Manushya is us. Thiryak is all living creatures which move horizontally like animals, birds etc. Sthavara is those things that can not move like stones etc.) Yet, all the Humans are wasting their lives entangled in the arishadvarga (The six qualities which often bring out evilness in us rather than divinity namely - Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Mada, Matsarya) leading to enhanced karma bandhas and births in inferior forms, life after life. He could not see and tolerate the agonies and diffculties we are undergoing repeatedly. One of His namams is "Avyaja Karuna Samudraha" meaning he is a personification of Karuna which flows freely like an ocean without any particular reason/cause/invocation. He told explicitly in previous incarnations as Varaha and Narasimha that "I will take care of any person who thinks of me and takes him to my abode". Varaha Charama Sloka Says: "Sthithe: manasi suswasthe: sari:re: sathi yo: naraha dha:thu sa:mye sthithe smartha: viswa ru:pam cha ma:m ajam thathastham mriyama:nam tham ka:shta pa:sha:na sannibham Aham Smara:mi Madbhaktham: Naya:mi Parama:m Gathim" (He whoever remembers and thinks of me in his lifespan and he who believes firmly/fondly in his mind about me, at the time his death I will remember him, and will grant him Parama Gathi which is Mukthi) Narasimha Charama Sloka says : "Satyam Bravi:mi manuja:h swayam U:rdhva Ba:huh Yo: Ma:m Nrusimha Mukunda Jana:rdane:thi Ji:van Japathyanudinam marane: runi:va pa:shana ka:shta sadrusa:ya dada:mi mukthim" (Oh Ma:nava:s! I am telling truth raising both my hands as if making a promise/taking an oath. Whoever chants my name everyday as Nrusimha, Mukunda, Jana:rdana etc. during his lifetime, at the time of his death, I will grant Mukthi to him) But not many listened and benefited. He became more worried about our indifference and searched for the ways to make us reach Him. As we, humans, will not believe or listen to anyone else's preachings and discount them off. We also do not like conditions being imposed. We will not even try to make an attempt to follow unless there is an example set. And the example should be so real life like otherwise, again it will be discounted as not practicable. So He decided that He will take birth as a Human, lead life how an ordinary human should live, show to the world how a human should be. If it is just that, only those people who were at the time of Avatharam would have been benefited. What about the people who did not have a chance to hear/see Him even though living at that time, what about future generations? So He chose to document that story historically for innumerable future generations. We do not have any such comprehensive eye-witness tell tale like document for the previous incarnations as Ramayana for Rama avatharam. To make it more effective He chose another very ordinary human, Valmiki, purified and sanctified him with His Nama amritham and made him to render the whole story of Ramayanam. Then He chose his own Sons Lava and Kusha sing the whole Ramayanam throughout the world for the benefit of everyone. At least by listening to the story some change would come in people's lives. He affirmed it himself in Ramayana that , listening to Ramayana brings prosperity even to him ("Mama:pi that bhu:thi karam pravakshyatha") Thus Ramayanam is the story of a manava, told by another manava for the benefit of all the manavas past present and future. What was the necessity of taking so much pain Himself? His Daya, Karuna, Love towards all of us like a Mother to her cute little baby, like a Father to his progeny, is the only reason why He took so much effort. Thus Lord Srimanarayana has decided that He will be a model human being and wished everybody would take this cue and follow His example. (... to be continued) Jai Srimannarayana!
