Bheeshma Ekadasi celebration - Washington DC

With the Divine mangalasasanams of our Acharya H.H Chinna Jeeyar swamiji,

Bheesma Ekadasi day was celebrated successfully for the first time in USA at

Rajdhani Mandir, VA. The event was organized by VikasaTarangini (VT) of

Washington DC. With the commitment and dedication of VT members the event went

off very well. Sri Rajdhani Mandir management and volunteers took lot of

interest and assisted in making the program a success. The program started with

Anugna, Sri Vishwaksena Aradhana, Maha Sankalpa, Nava kalasa sthapana, kalasa

puja, japam and Homam with Purusha Sukta, Sri Sukta, Bhusukta, Neelasukta, Sri

Vishnusukta and 1008 Ahuti with Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam. Sriman Seshavatharam

Puranam from Hindu temple Atlanta took the lead and with the assistance of four

other priest from washington Area mass chanting of Sri Vishnu Sahasranama

stothram was conducted. All devotees performed Sri Vishnu Sahasranama Puja with

the guidance from the priests. Kala mandapam of Washington headed by Mrs.

Mrunalini Sadananda and her troop performed Dasavatharam in front of Perumal

Lakshmi Narayana. Annamacharya’s Kirtanas were sung by Mrs.Shanthi

Kalipatnupu and her troop. It was a feast for eyes and ears. The significance

of Bheeshma Ekadasi and the mass chanting of Sri Vishnu Sahasranama stotram was

propogated in a small way to the local community, attendees and recepients of

the invitation. The program was well attended by devotees primarily from

Washington DC suburbs and a few from New Jersey, Philadeplhia, North Carolina

and Dallas, Texas.

We plan to post on the web site select pictures of Sri Bheeshma Ekadasi

With all respects to Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swami,

 

I wanted to write a small note of Thankyou for Washington

Vikasatarangini, Ravi and Vasanthi for providing us an opportunity

to be part of the Sri Vishnu Sahasranama Puja and Homam. It was

indeed for first time I participated in such an event. Physically

living in Dallas, I had something that was pulling me to go to DC

to be part of this event.

So we decided to fly to Philadelphia on Saturday morning, picked up my

sister who is studying in UPENN, and drove to Washington. We were on

time finding our way to the Rajadhani Mandir the next day. We had to

get back to Phili by 5.30PM to head back to Dallas. All events

rolled very well as Raviji described and it was just a feast for our

eyes, ears, heart and mind. We prayed to the Lord to look upon us

with all kindness, especially the earthquake hit regions of Gujarat.

All this was quite emotional to me.

 

I left it to Lord Srimananarayana to get us back on time and we indeed

did and retuned home safe.

 

I wish all Vikasatarangini chapters in the US celebrate Bheeshma

Ekadasi in such a big bang every year, giving an opportunity to spread

the word on the Significance of Sri Vishnu Sahasranama to a much wider

audience.

We are very happy to note that you have all the way

travelled through the space from Dallas to Washington

DC, just to take part in the Virat Parayana on Bhishma

Ekadasi on 4th.

No doubt, it is the result of the punyam you have done

so that you have got the interest and dedication to

participate in such divine events.

 

What we can say it is not only your punyam but also

the punyam of your parents,who gave the samskaras like

this. Otherwise, girls of your age, will have hardly

any interest in this type of programmes. And what we

can say is, this is how God blessed us to have

disciples like you with us with dedication and

devotion. We offer ourmangalasasanams to you for

brighter future with all good.

We are sure that you know about our

'bridge-conference' during last saturday of

everymonth. The next one will be on 24th of Feb. from

Atmakur of Kurnool district. Let us join on that day.
