Guest guest
______________________________ * Srimathe Ramanujayanamah * * Jear TiruvadigalE sharanam * ______________________________ Jai SrimanNarayan! Dear Bhagavathas, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to the association of devotees. I have become a member of group very recently and since then, going through all the mails sent so mercifully by devotees from all over the world. These mails are very inspiring uplifting and enrapturing, particularly for those bereft of Bhagavtha association. Just by reading these mails, (especially by Sri Sdagopan) I felt that I was very much present in the middle of Bhagavath's association, at the Sannidhi of Sri GOdaRanganatha, in Pamona temple. It is said that the greatest misery for a devotee is, to be away from the association of devotees. In fact, the essence of Mother Andal's Tiruppavai, as articulated by H.H., is to be in the association of devotees only. Though I am living in New York, the citadel of illusion and Maya, by the causeless mercy and pure love of our "Krpa mathra prapannAcharya", H.H. Sri Sri Sri Tridandi SrimanNarayana Jear Swami, I am able to sustain the little devotional spark inside me. Having taken full shelter at His lotus feet, I could note down some of the points in the nectarine lectures graced by H.H. in the last Marghazi(Dec-Jan,2001, Hyderabad). The commentaries of Achryas are indispensable to understand even the simplest of vedic literatures, and what to speak of the "seed of all vedic literatures", the Tiruppavai! When H.H. describes the ecstatic loving relationships between the Lord and His devotees (Gopikas) providing illuminating and elaborate explanations of the pastimes of Lord Krsna with His devotees, who is there?!, whose heart will not transform, and whose eyes will not fill with tears of divine affection towards Lord! Krsna says in Srimad Bhagavatham that, "My dear Udhdhava!, the Acharya should be considered as My very own self, and should be treated exactly as good as Me. In fact, Acharya is non-different from Me." Without taking complete shelter at His lotus feet, there is no way one can transcend these material modes of nature. From time immemorial, our heart has been harbouring all kinds inauspicious desires, except the one to serve devotees and Acharyas. And, that explains our present conditioning in this material world. However, living in the material world is not, in itself, a sufficient explanation for bondage. The best example is great Acharyas like H.H and other pure devotees of Lord SrimanNarayana like Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami, who have no desire whatsoever, other than to serve Lord every moment and who advent into this material world, taking compassion on the fallen souls. AdiyEn, with blessings of the devotees, shall try to mail the points noted in the "Vendi Panduga, Tiruppavai Pravachanams, Jan-Dec, 2001, Hyderabad", for my own purification and for having my understandings clarified and corrected! AdiyEn has classified all the points under the heading of "Qualities of Devotees". This first mail deals with - Devotee is not jealous __ " The foremost quality of a devotee is that he is not envious of others. This is the very quality that brought us into this material world. Envy makes one see even the good things in others as bad. Lord is ocean of all wonderful qualities. But a person having jealousy in his heart attributes bad qaulities to Lord. So, an aspiring devotee should try to be completely free from this most unclean, cheap and dirty feeling in the heart. People may take different things from the Lord, but for us, just His service is enough. Devotees are always happy seeing others progress. However, they take compassion, as they know that so-called scientific or technical advanacement a person is hankering after, is not real and it simply keeps one entangled in this material world. _______ As far as this step of mailing the points I noted down during the Tiruappavai lectures is concerned, I am completely dependent on the mercy of H.H. I am lame and ignorant, devoid of any kind of spiritual understanding whatsoever. So, these points must surely contain mistakes because of my own lack of understanding. I beseech the forgivance of Bhagavathas for any offenses made inadvertently. In next mail: Continuation of this quality. H.H. describes the 6 diseases(enemies) that attack jnana and how to practically get rid of them. AdiyEN, Aspiring to be a humble servant of Bhagavthas, Sheshagiri. -------------------- For a devotee, the world appears to be full of devotees. ---H.H.(Pravachanam on Ist pashuram, Dhanurmasa,Hyd-2001) --------------------- ___ Chat with your friends as soon as they come online.
