Guest guest
Dear Ramanuja Siddhantha Siromanis, Jai Srimannarayana, In the calender it is mentioned that Aug 4 was Terkalwar Thirunakshatram. Guest guest
Chi Raghu! Jai srimannarayana! We are happy for the inquitive question you have posed. Terkalwar is not an alwa:r, like Namma:lwar, Periyalwa:r etc., he was a great devotee of devotees. And he is a model Sri:vaishnava swamy also, who lived probably during Sri Para:sara Bhattar Swamy time,we think. So, you need not sereach for his avatha:ra rahasyam. Rahasyams are only for God. Contemporary srivaishnavas were not recognizing him as such. But he never felt that. One day this devotee, it seems, went to a king of those days, who was donating lands to the poor people. This devotee was refused to give any land for house, saying that he is Srivaishnava, for the king was neither a vaishnava nor he was a devotee. This Terka:lwar was very happily returned to his hut and started dancing. Asked why he was happy, he said, that atleast that king & his persons recognized him as a Srivaishnava. And that is enough for him to be happy in this life. It means, they never considered the temporal wealths are wealths but the spiritual wealth is only the real wealth. That is it. If there is anything, something about this devotee, we will let you know later. =chinnajeeyar= --- rmudumbai wrote: > Dear Ramanuja Siddhantha Siromanis, > Jai Srimannarayana, > > In the calender it is mentioned that Aug 4 was > Terkalwar > Thirunakshatram. Guest guest
Priya SRiman RAghu! Jai Srimannarayana! We gave a little information about Terka:zhwar. Here is somemore information. Terka:zhwar is the name of one the dieties in Thirukko;shtiyu:r, the place where A:cha:rya Ra:ma:nuja announced the Ashta:kshari manthra from the temple tower, to all the dedicated masses, in 11th Century. The a:cha:rya, that given the meaning of charamasl:ka to Sri A:cha:rya Ra:ma:nuja was 'Go:shti:pu:rna'. That Go:shti:pu:rna's son also was named after "Terka:zhwan". His sister was De:vaki Pira:tti. He born on the Pu:rnima of A:di Month according to Solar Calander or Sra:vana Pu:rnima, according to Lunar Calander. This Terkazhwan also became one of the disciples of A:cha:rya Ra:ma:nuja, later. Sri Ra:ma:nuja:cha:rya Swamy appointed 74 pontiffs, as His followers to propogare the Visishtadwaitham, right! This Terka:zhwan was also one among them, occupying the 3rd number in order. He also lived during the period of Sri Para:sara Bhattar. Sri Bhattar, when visited Thirukko:shtiyu:r and stayed for some days or months, met with this great scholar and had a discussion, on the banks of a water tank (Pushkarini)there. They were discussing about the wiping out the sins that a soul commits. When Sri Bhattar said to have a dip in the Tank on an auspicious day, Sri Terka:zhwan said, "Oh Swamy! usually taking dip in this tank, on special days, is to wash away our sins. But I am sure that the sins I have committed, cannot be washed away, just by the bath we take in this tank. Their magnanimity is too huge. It is only the divine discuss in the powerful hand of Lord Terka:zhwar, that can burn all our sins, nothing else can help me." This statement shows how he was dedicated and surrendered to the Lord. His disciples wrote a sl:ka dedicated to him is as follows: " Sri:go:shti:pu:rna sath puthram, Yathiraja pada:sritham, Ka:syapa:nwaya sanja:tham Na:ra:yana gurum bhaje:! "It seems Terka:zhwan's name was Sri Na:ra:yana:charya. He born in the lineage of "Ka:syapa Go:thram". He was the disciple of Sri: Ra:ma;nuja:charya swamy. He was the beloved son of Sri:go:shti:pu:rna swamy. I pray to him to grace me." This is the available story of him. There may be some other details too. How things are going on there? Our prayers to all that are suffering there. And our mangalasasanams to all who are trying to help them in all respects. =chinnajeeyar= Terrorist Attacks on U.S. - How can you help? Guest guest
Dearest Sri Acharya, adiyen Ramanuja dasa Thanks for enlightening us all about one of our acharyas. These facts and conversation between our acharyas clearly show us how our acharyas did not want us to become religious fanatics and how they want us to become most broadminded "Vedic Practitioners" with symbolism hidden into every act and practise of day to day life which directly links us to our Lord Sriman Narayana through our acharyas. As per HH Sri Jeeyar Swami's directives, with Srivari Mangalasasanams we lauched a company wide donation campaign. Again with HH blessings it has been approved by the CEO of the company. Now the company is matching any donations made in this effect and we are helping all the World Trade Center partners to use our offices in the interim and carry out business. With HH blessings we are able to show how Universal our Dharma is and how everyone is none other than kith and kin of one common Source of Creation. We are so grateful to Srivaru in making us able to see God in every creation though we know for fact that the Talibans/Moslems killed our forefathers, killed Vedics, destroyed temples destroyed huge Libraries and collection of Vedic Knowledge and scriptures and went on to kill some of our acharyas and disrupted thier practise. They even went on and tried to destroy a gift given to us by Lord Ramachandra. Yet the compassion that Sri Jeeyar Swamiji is letting us survive through this devastation with tears of compassion.
