Guest guest
Chi Kranthi Tirumala! Jai Srimannarayana! We are happy for your interest in learning about yajno:pavi:tham. Sra:vana Pu:rnima, as you may be knowing, is the day of knowledge. Lord Hayagriva incarnated on that day and he gave the entire Ve:dic knowledge to the four headed Brahma. So all the vedic scriptures are started on that day by every person. Old people to rejuvenate their knowledge and new people to get good out of the vedas. Yajno:pavi:tham is the one which gives the authority to a person to study ve:das. As they start ve:das on that day, before starting, they do begin with a Japa ie. meditation with 'Ka:mo:ka:rshi:th' manthra. After the japam is finished for specified number of times, they do vapanam ie., removing the hair in total except Sikha. By this act, the yajno:pavi:tham gets polluted and thus they change it and then go for doing Ho:mam, recommended for that day with ga:yathi,1000 times. After, 'ka:mo:ka:rshit' japam & for whatever may be sins commited un-knowingly, the yajno:pavi:tham gets polluted. So it must be changed and perform Havan on that day. Next day, they do sahasra ga:yathri etc., Basically, changing it, may be to re-energize their spiritual powers. Even without these reasons, people should change their su:tram, because the SMRUTHIS dictate to do so. =chinnajeeyar=
