Jai Sreemannarayana

Our beloved Periya Jeeyar, is the LORD's Acharyan.

Q: Who is HE why should we know about HIM?

===========================================

==Lord's Acharya (Swami ManavalaMamuni also known as

VaraVara Muni)=======

=> The only Acharya who had the unique opportunity

of delivering dravida veda vyakhyanam before

Ranganatha and Samskrita vedanta vyakhyanam before

Bhagawath Ramanuja.

=> ubhayavedantacarya.

=> PeriyA Jeeyar is the only acharya recognised by

LORD as HIS Acharya.

=> He is the avatara of Adisesha and Swami Ramanuja

=> Srisailesa Daya Patram is the only taniyan

recognised as a mantram and the only slokam submitted

by Lord Himself for his Acharya.

Our Lord has commanded that this tanian should be

recited before chanting of the Dhivya Prabhandas,

and at the end with VazhiThirunamam.

SriSailesa Daya patram DhiBhakti Adi Gunarnavam

Yatindra pravanam Vande Ramyaja Mataram Munim

Lord Ranganatha taking Swami ManavalaMaMunigal as His Acharya.

==============================================================

Background: This is Srirangam, Year: 1370 Lord

Ranganatha (The lord who was the Archa Vigraha for

Brahma & all the Ikshvaku dynasty including Lord

Rama) had a few unfulfilled desires. (Our Lord

is deciding to have the avatara of Adishesha,

Bhagavad Ramanuja as Swami ManavalaMamuni )

Lord:- (As Tirukkurungudi Nambi) We have been a

sishya of Swamy Ramanuja and received the Rahasya

upadesam

We also received the name Sri Vaishnava nambi. But

we are yet to give any Guru Dhakshina to Him.

Also, we have not listened and enjoyed the Vyakyanam

of Thiruvaimozhi by Swamy Nammazhwar when Nammpillai

delivered it here. We must fulfill both these desires

now.

Background: Lord, Ranganahta has been listening to

thiruvaimozhi pasurams,(text) but wanted to hear the

full commentary and enjoy the explanations and

anubhavams in Thiruvaimozhi Vyakyanam.

He decides to have the Avathara of Adisesha and Swamy

Ramanuja, as "Poiyilatha ManavalaMaMunigal" at

Alwartirunagari where earlier Nammazhvar descended.

Swami ManavalaMamuni called as Peria Jeeyar, born

in ippasi moolam, is the ocean of knowledge and

devotion and has all the ideal Acharya Gunas. So, He

chose Swami ManavalaMamuni to be His Acharya and

teach HIM Thiruvaimozhi Vyakhyanam.

After ManavalaMaMuni fully blossoms as an Acharya HE

decides to request Periya Jeeyar to fulfill his desire.

This is Srirangam, Year: 1432, On a Pavitra utsavam

day, after the procession Lord is seated in his

Pavitra utsava Mantapam; Surrounded by priests and

other devotees.

Swami ManavalaMamuni comes with followers to offer

Mangalasasanams.

MaMuni had completed the Sribhashya kalakshepam

before Ramanuja at Sriperumbudur temple, and has

been hailed as "Sentamizhum vadakalayum tigazhnda

nAvar" or in other words ubhayavedantacharya.

Lord Rangantha Gives his Blessings and talks via

the Archaka.

Archaka: It is perumal's wish that starting tomorrow,

in our Periya ThiruMantapam, you start the discourses

on Periyavankurugur nambi's Thiruvaimozhi based on

the Edu 36,000 Vyakyanam. To listen without any

hindrance, all the festivals would be cancelled for

one year from today.

Edu 36,000 Vyakyanam was done by Nampillai, and

documented by his Sishya VadakkuThiruvedhi Pillai.

MaMunigal humbly Accepts LORD's command.

The following Day: Imagine this Glorious Scene.

===============================================

Lord Ranganatha, with Dhivya Suris;

Ananatha Azhwan (Adisesha), PeriyaThiruvadi

(Garudazhwar), SenapatiAzhwan (Vishwaksena);

Nammazhwar himself with all the other Azhwars,

and Acharyas starting with Swami Nathamuni;

>From BhuLokam starting with SriRanga Narayana

Jeeyar and other Jeeyars, Thirumalai Tanda

bhattar along with other devotees came with

a huge audience.

Periya Jeeyar - Starts his discourse

Swami ManavalaMamuni: Lakshminathasamaranbham,

Yo Nityam, Matha Pitha, Bhaktamrutam ,

tiruvazhudi,van tigazhum solai, mikka irai nilai....

During the discourse, Jeeyar explains the esoteric

meanings of the divine poems through Sruthi

Prakriyai, Sruthaprakasika Prakriyayai,

Gita bhashya Prakriyayai, Pancharatra Prakriyayai,

Ramayana Prakriyayai, Vishnu Purana Prakriyayai,

Maha Bhagavatha Prakriyayai and also padartham,

Vakyartham, Maha Vakyartham etc. And Sabda Rasam,

Artha Rasam and Bhava Rasam etc. He explained from

all the five commentaries with great skill.

This went on for One year.

Dhivya Dhampatis were immensely pleased.

On the last day(Ani moolam); In the presence of

Namperumal, UbhayaNachiyars, Nitya Suris, Azhwars,

Acharyas and other devotees, Swami MaMuni concluded

his EDU Vyakhyanam and Sattumurai was done.

Lord was extremely gratified & pleased with the

EDU Vyakhaynam. He wanted to spread and enlighten

others about his ACHARYA - the Periya Jeeyar -

Acharya ManavalaMaMuni, his vyakyanams and

vaibhavams.

Lord offers as sambhavana to Jeeyar, Fruits, Flowers,

Tamboolam, Condiments & parivattam.

At this time, Lord Ranganatha takes the form of a

4/5 year old child - Ranganayakam. He comes in between

Lord Ranganatha & His sambhavana to Acharya

ManavalaMaMunigal.

Surprised, other devotees ask this boy for his purpose.

Devotees: Who is this child, and where did come from?

Devotee: Child Why are you here?

Child: Without any fear, with folded hands towards Jeeyar

Lord as a 4/5 Yr Child:

======================

SriSailesa Daya patram (Pause…)

DhiBhakti Adi Gunarnavam (Pause…)

Yatindra pravanam Vande (Pause…)

Ramyaja Mataram Munim (Pause…)

Then repeats the full Sloka without any pause.

SriSailesa Daya patram DhiBhakti Adi Gunarnavam

Yatindra pravanam Vande Ramyaja Mataram Munim

Lord Ranganatha offers his pranams to Ramyajamatru muni.

The young boy hands over the palm leaf on which this slokam

is written to Periya Jeeyar and runs towards Sanctum Sanctorum.

Periya Jeeyar asks his devotees to fetch the young lad

to Him.

The devotees start chasing the running boy.

They reach the sanctum sanctorum and the young boy

magically disappears and merges into Ranganatha.

All the devotees of Periya Jeeyar are amazed to know

that the young boy was none other than Ranganatha himself.

The palm leaf is offered to Ranganatha and everyone

fall at the Lotus feet of Periya Jeeyar.

The lord is extremely pleased. Through Archaka

He commands that this Tanian of Jeeyar

"SriSailesa Daya patram DhiBhakti Adi Gunarnavam

Yatindra pravanam Vande Ramyaja Mataram Munim"

be chanted in every divyadesam before chanting of Dhivya Prabhandam

and this Vazhi Thirunamam be chanted at the end.

So it is the Lord who commands that

"SriSailesa Daya patram DhiBhakti Adi Gunarnavam

Yatindra pravanam Vande Ramyaja Mataram Munim"

be chanted in every Thirumala/Thirupathi and all Divya

Desams before chanting of Dhivya Prabhandam and this

Vazhi Thirunamam be chanted at the end.

At the same time starting with ThiruMalai, tirumalirunsolai malai to

all the Thirupathis Lord Ranganatha sent this same command via the

srimukham of Vishvaksenar.

This Srisailesa mantra is held equivalent to mantra ratnam - dvayam.

Our Acharya's analyze and interpret how Lord Ranganatha failed

to get a proper guru in his other incarnations. Rama

was not happy with Viswamitra since he went behind desire and anger.

Krishna was not happy with Sandipana since he also did the same. Now

He identified Periya Jeeyar as the right acharya in all aspects

and fulfilled His desires.

One of his many contributions that we chant and enjoy

every day is the Venkatesa Suprabhatam. (Every morning at Thirumala)

(Composed by His Devotee as per Swami MaMuni's directives, approved

and established as a regular offerring by Swami MaMuni)
