Guest guest
Jeeyar Thiruvadigale: Sharanam, Jai Srimanna:ra:yana, Dear Bhagavathas, Please accept my humble Sashtanga Namaskarams. Jai Srimanna:ra:yana. The following is the typed version of the "Pravachanam" on "Why Good People Suffer?" graced by our Acharya, His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Tridandi SrimanNa:ra:yana Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji on 29th September, 2001 (over Telebridge). Kindly read the following lecture graced by our Swamiji keeping in mind that Rama is not Bhagavan, but just 100% pure human being. Rama is an unadulterated, spotless complete human being. Not even a trace of mistake can be seen in His entire life . Before He appeared on the Earth, He was Bhagavan and after the incarnation is complete, the Earthly pastimes are over, He is Bhagavan, but not in the meantime. In other words, He limited His opulence to that of an ideal human being, never exhibiting any super human powers or pastimes. (Remember the boon given to Ravana? Only human beings can kill him and if there was any super-human trace in Rama, it would dissatisfy Brahma's condition to kill Ravana). Now, if we see each and every pastime of Rama, we are touched by His sweetness, His beauty, His unfailing, invincible strength as a warrior, His mercy on the wicked and sinful, His loving exchanges with variety of personalities, with great Rushis, with demons, with lowborn people and with animals (birds, vanaras....) His infallible behavior and perfect discharge of the responsibility as an ideal Son, ideal Desciple, ideal Husband, ideal Friend, ideal Warrior, ideal Enemy, ideal King, ideal Father, ideal Master and over all, a blemish less ideal Human Being. Rama was a Man loved by all. Nobody could be found who was not touched by His absolutely wonderful qualities. Amazingly "Ramo: Vigrahava:n Dharmah" was neither expressed by sages and saints nor by great devotees of Rama. It was told by a demon, Maricha, when Ravana came to ask his help to abduct Mother Sitha. Henceforth Maricha was aptly referred to by "Mari:cha Maharshi:" by our great Acharya, H.H. Sri Sri Sri Gopala:charya Swami Vaaru. Swamiji's lecture starts here: (The above were all mentioned by Swamiji, but not on September 29th 2001 lecture.) Lord Rama, Mother Sita and Laxmana Swamy were extremely good. They never lied. But, unfortunately they had to go to forest. They faced so many problems. However, because Rama went to the forest, Ravana was killed. Vali, a very dangerous monster, Khara, Dushana and Trishira were killed. Because Rama only, suffering in the forest, Kabandha was killed. Because Rama went to forest, we came to know about such a very pious old lady, Shabari and a such a wonderful devotee and friend of Rama, Guha. We came to know the exaltedness and sweetness of Lord Rama. We came to know about the greatness of a daemon, Vibheeshana. Whenever there is suffering, something good automatically comes out of that suffering. Look at Prahlada, Ambareesh, and other such great Vaishnavas. They suffered, but they never thought they were suffering. Great people suffer, but they become truly great who, in the midst of suffering, feel that they are not suffering. They take it in a very positive way. Again, because of Rama going to the forest only, we came to know about a foremost devotee of Lord, mighty Hanuman. Some good people have to suffer to bring some good to the society. And Lord appears for the sake of good people only. To save good people Lord comes. Good people always have a control over their temptations. Just think, think and think, then only speak and then only do something. People are always in a hurry. They take a step and then they take it back. Devathas belong to such category. Devathas are terribly short-tempered. It is Devathas only who inspired Vishwamithra to take Rama to the forest. Rama had no anger at all. Devathas were upset to see Rama so peaceful and compassionate always, as what they wanted was the demise of Ravana. They thought, if He never becomes angry, how can He ever kill Ravana daemon? So, they wanted to see Rama angry. They thought if they can carry Him to the forest, He will become angry. So they provoked this terrorist lady Mandara to inspire Kikeyi to ask the 2 boons from Dasharatha. However Rama never became angry with that act. Instead, He started to the forest with very great equanimity of mind. Then Devathas thought they have to use some internal thing to Rama to make Him angry. They thought, let's hurt Mother Sitha and see if Rama becomes angry. They used a crow daemon called Ka:ka:sura to hurt Mother Sitha. Amazing, this time it worked! Rama became very angry to see Mother Sitha hurt. He at once stood and said "Who wants to play with a snake having 5 hoods?...". Devathas have become very happy to see Rama angry. They learnt that if they do something to Mother Sitha, Rama would become angry. So, as a part of their plan to start a battle between Rama and Ravana, they caused great suffering to Mother Sitha, Rama and Laxmana Swamy by leading them to Panchavati in the forest. They made Mother Sitha ask for such a silly boon, even though She knew that such thing as a golden deer doesn't really exist. Mother Sitha was an innocent Lady. No woman on the Earth can even think of such hazardous existence among 700 demoniac ladies, always trying to cause pain to Her. Ravana used to utter very bad and troublesome words to Her frequently. When Rama couldn't see Mother Sitha in the Panchavati Ashram, when He found that She was abducted, He started crying and crying. He asked mountains, trees, rivers, birds and what not? Why He had to suffer? (You cannot apply mundane Karma Vasanalu to Rama and say that He suffered. That argument fails. The only way to understand it is to read and digest the spirit of this very brilliant lecture graced by our Swamiji) For every bad thing that happens to good people, lot of good things happen to the world. Because of Mother Sitha's suffering, the dangerous monster like Ravana was killed. If there is a wound in some part of the body, the whole body suffers. All the cells in the body suffer, though they are innocent. Unless every cell in the body suffers, the wound will not come out and appear on the skin. After so much suffering only, the wound comes out to the surface. We must always remember that when good people devoted to God suffer, the whole world gets benefit out of it. Nowadays everybody's tongue is twisting between the USA and computers. It became like everybody's target is to come to America. Strange! even so called priests are also aiming to come to the US. My God! All roads no longer reach the Rome, they now reach the USA. Try to live in your own mother place. In the USA, now so much unwanted stuff is being pushed into the minds of people here. That is not good. It's because of those who were burnt to ashes, the whole world started thinking about its strategies. Each nation is questioning, how they were, they are and they would be! Something good always comes out of such activity. While churning the milky ocean, it was so painful to everybody there. Lord suffered in different ways. Devathas suffered in only one way, but Lord suffered in many ways. However, nectar came out of such churning, Dhanvanthari, Mother Laxmi and moon came out of it. So many good things came out of it. There must be some boiling in the heart to get the things out of it. Unless you churn the yogurt you don't get the cream out of it. Superficially people might think that God has no compassion. After WTC collapse everybody started blaming God why He allowed it. But the outcome of it is so good. People who were very very aggressive, started thinking again. Only good people will perceive it. Only those having positive attitude will understand it. The Lord's administration is terribly perfect. When God thinks something, He thinks perfectly and He carries it out perfectly. Because of the suffering of Prahlada only, Lord LaxmiNarasimha came out. Now, we can see it. It is because of Nachiketha only, suffered in the Yamaloka (went to the Yamaloka and fasted there for 3 days), the Katho:panishad came out. We came to know about so many clues in understanding the nature and the inseparable reality between the souls and the Supersoul. We came to know about the Lord's unfathomable compassion as revealed by Yama. Nachiketha's sacrifice came out of it. In next mail: Sri Katho:panishad – Ist lecture Kindly forgive adiye:n for any mistakes or offenses committed because of adiye:n's deep rooted ignorance, Jeeyar Thiruvadigale: Sharanam!
