Guest guest
Dear Ramanuja It is very difficult to give an answer for your question. It is we(means You) who need to make a search and find the qualities which are acceptable for you. Our elders have identified so many gods and there are so many preachers for these gods who found the qualities they are looking for. In the same manner, We need to carefully study on these gods/gurus and finally accept them as our Guru/Acharya. In my opinion, I choose an Acharya who is doing a lot of service for the community/country withought enjoying the benifits for himself. Not only he does the work for himself, but also pulls the crowd and make them work. I am not trying to make you belive or it is not my intention, but Putta Parthy Sai Baba is one example I can give. I was a strong dis-beliver in these kind of people untill recently. I saw several of his devotees rendering their service Voluntarily and nobody told them/guided them to do these community services. They have a fixed set of monthly schedule and they continue to do it, irrespective of who joins them. They all do these in the name of their Guru and feel that their guru has ordered them to do. There is a lot of saisfaction you get by serving the needy in USA. Of course there is much more needy in India too. But since we are in US, there are many organisations who give an opportunity to take your service. You can make a try and locate Sai centre in your area and just attend their Bhajan for cuple of times and see wether it fits you. I once again tell you that it is not my intention to drive you for this Acharya. You are not seeing him, nor you are guided by him or his followers. It is only upto you take up the activites. I am also a follower of Jeeyar Swami. He also does a lot of work for benifit of the community. I have no idea wether his followers are doing any community service or not. But I am sure that our guru will tune up our thinking and mind to the right path we should be and continue to be. I can give give you some info later if you want. Reason I want to be concise.
