Guest guest
Om Asmadgurubhyo: Namaha! Jai Srimannarayana! With the benevolence of our Acharya HH Shri Jeeyar Swamiji and as per His guidance, I would like to post the following few lines. One day Shri Swamiji was delivering lectures on Ramayanam, qualities of Lord Rama, why we should learn about Rama and worship Him, and so on. A question came up suddenly. Someone asked Shri Swamiji " Swamiji, I am living a happy and contented life. I do not do any harm to others. I do not have any bad habits. I do not crave for power or money. I will take whatever that comes to me as per my sincere work. I will help others if I can, otherwise I do not interfere in others' matters. I believe that I am living righteously and contributing whatever I can do to the society. Why do I need to learn about God, Rama or other divine personalities and why do I need to pray? " Shri Swamiji appreciated the question as a very valid one. Many of us also, would have encountered this question at one point in our life. It also appears to be logical to on the face of it. When we are living by ourselves without causing any harm to others, providing helping hand if possible, and without any evil qualities/habits etc, what is the need to pray/worship God? I do not want anything from God or pray Him for more money or power. So, why should I go to a temple every now and then, or spend(waste ?) lots of money on worship/prayer/feasts/priests etc. In His reply Shri Swamiji has clearly showed the necessity to worship, pray, learn and practice about God, His divine ways and qualities etc. Before knowing what Shri Swamiji has replied let us all think ourselves and answer ourselves : (1) How sincere I am in my life ? (2) Is there any need for me to pray ? Adiyen Ramanuja Dasaha Murali Krishna Kalvapudi.
