Jai Srimannarayana!

With the benevolence of HH Shri Jeeyar Swamiji

and His guidance the following few lines follow

the previous posting .....

Continuing the answer to the question on

'How sincere we are ..' Shri Jeeyar Swamiji's

flow of ka:runyam continues:

"Let us observe what trees are doing and

examine ourselves whether we have the same

qualities, leave the animals or birds for

now.

A tree gives away all its fruits, flowers,

leaves, branches ..everything it owns to

whoever takes from it. It does not show any

discrimination on the basis of who is taking

its produce. It can be a bird or animal or

a human. It gives equally. If it has 1000

fruits it gives away all the 1000. It does

not keep even one for itself. It gives away

all its flowers. Does not keep even a bud for

itself. It does not say this person is good

or this person is bad, this person is a

prime minister, this person is a poor man

whoever approaches it can get something from

it.

Can we exhibit this quality ? When it comes

to giving, often our hands are tied. We

think ... to give or not if so how much ..

then how often .. then whether we get

anything in return .. then whether he is

a person near and dear to us .. then feel

proud for ourselves that we have given so

much .. then if the other person does not

appreciate our charity we feel bad and curse

the receiver .. so on.

A tree does not do so. It does not expect

anything return. It does not expect someone

to thank itself. After giving whatever

we want to give, do we think what more we

could have given ? do we feel that we have

not done enough and wish had we possessed

more we could have given more (not for one

particular person whom we like - but to

everyone who ever asks) ?

A tree does that. When autumn comes, it sheds

all its leaves, flowers etc and stands bare

in the cold weather as if doing a 'Thapas' to

acquire more and more, possess more and more

so that it can give/distribute one more time.

As a result of "Thapas" it blooms again in

spring and continues its activity. This cycle

goes on throughout its life.

If one person does not want anything from it,

it provides at least shade from the sun and

shelter from rain, if one goes beneath it,

taking the heat and rain on itself selflessly.

It allows birds, animals to construct their

nests on it.

Can we exhibit at least 10% of what a tree can

do ? Are we doing enough of what we could have

done ? Are we sincere enough in our life ?

Can we consider ourselves superior than trees

and animals ? If we are not nurturing the

good qualities of even a tree or an animal

how can a man be superior in race than other

species ?

Just becauce he has power of thinking ..

irrespective of what use he is putting that

to ? Just to the purpose of selfishness

and spread all evil qualities causing harm

and hardship to other species including the

mother nature ?

How can we say that we are sincere when we

have so many drawbacks and how can we say

that we are living selfless on our own when

we are not as selfless as even a tree?

That is why we should know what God expects

from us. That is why we should pray God to

lead us in the path we should tread. That is

why we should know what Rama has done to be

called as a perfect human being.

Let us know more from Shri Jeeyar Swamiji in

the next posting
