Guest guest
Sri:mathe: Ra:ma:nuja:ya namaha: Aum Asmadgurubhyo: namaha: Jai Sri:manna:ra:yana Alwa:r Emperumana:r Jeeyar Divya Tiruvadigale: saranam Prana:mams to Bhagavd Bandhu:s, Adiya:ne was reading the mail sent by "Srima:n Pulijal, Jagjeevan of Houston Vika:sa Tarangini" regarding the importance of Deepam and Sri: Pa:da Ti:rtham. Adiya:ne is blessed to be present at the time of that discourse by H.H. Sree Sree Sree Jeeyar Swamijee during H.H. Sree Swamijee's Washington visit last August. Adiya:ne is making a bold attempt to present this. Adiya:ne begs pardons if any mistakes are there. Mistakes can be there becuase of Adiya:ne's inability to understand properly from H.H Sree Swa:mijee's discourse. ------- H.H. Swamijee explained with a wonderful example why should we do Aachamanm at the beginning of any ritual. The examples Sree Swa:mijee uses are very simple and make us understand the point or philosophy behind these practices very easily. Discourse went on like a flow of nectar from the divine Sri:mukham of H.H. Sree Swa:mi:jeee as follows: Let us imagine a street with heavy traffic in the middle of the city. That road is a sand road with full of dust. We know that it is very difficult for a person even to walk on such kind of roads when a vehicle passes by because of amount of dust raises on to the atmosphere around us. We need not explain the difficulties faced by the people who live in houses close to that road. What should they do to get away from this problem. Either they can leave that place and live far from such kind of situations or think of some alternatives so that the dust will not raise. Let us assume that they do not have any other alternative, but only to stay in that house. Then, What can be the bset solution? The easiest solution is to sprinkle some water in front of the house. This is very simple. Right! We can imagine how much is a problem to live close to one such road. If a house is located at the junction of 4 roads, situation will be horrible. This is where Sree Swamijee interpreted this very example to our(Souls) situation. We are exactly in the same situation. We live close to number of such high speed traffic lanes. They are mouth, eyes, ears, nose, skin etc. You know what is travelling on these lanes! Nothing but worldly matters(Ihika Vishaya:lu) with high speeds. The road in the city might be free during less traffic hours. These traffic lanes are always busy. These vehicles do not allow us to live peacefully. They do not allow us to focus on one thing constantly. If we are in such situation, can we do any ritual with Sraddha(Lots of Interest) and Focus? But, Sradha is the most important factor when we perform any ritual. Without Sradha, what ever we do is in vain. This is where the A:chamanam helps us in performing the ritual with utmost Sradha. While doing A:chamanam, as explained by "Srima:n Pulijal, Jagjeevan", Take water into palm with the feeling(PariPu:rna Bha:vana) that it came on to us from the lotus feet of Lord Sri:mann:rayana and chant 1) Aum Atchyuta:ya namaha: and drink it. Then, we should repeat the same for these two mantr:s also. 2) Aum Ananta:ya namaha 3) Aum Go:vinda:ya namaha What does it do? These mantra:s make the water in our palm a "MantraJalam". That goes inside of our body and suppressses our thoughts revolving aroud these worldly matters and enable us to concentrate on divine qualities of Lord and perform the ritual properly. We might get a doubt "Can this mantra jala have that much effect?". The answer is "YES" when we have the belef. Swa:mijee mentioned one example also. We all know "the great devotee Prahla:da". He was given a glass posion by his own father. Then, Prahla:da chanted these three mantams and did a:chamanam and drank that poision. Nothing has happended to him. That means, these mantra:s can transfer the poision into nectar also. -------- Once again Adiya:ne begs pardons from Bhagat Bandhu:s for any mistakes and request them to correct me.
