The Vikasa Tharangini of Tallahassee (JETUSATLHVT)

members will celebrate the Sri Rama Navami on 04/21/02 Sunday.

 

The birthday of Lord Sri Rama , the sixth incarnation of Lord Sri

Maha Vishnu falls on the ninth lunar day of the bright fortnight of

Chaitra (March-April). This festival, celebrated with great sanctity

and fasting, is one of the five important fasts (Maha-vratas)

observed by Hindus since ancient times. An extraordinary religious

function consisting of sacred discourses, the singing of bhajans, and

dramas depicting the life of Lord Sri Rama. He was the super model

for the whole mankind in the universe , by possessing all the super

human qualities which elevated him to the highest level of

discipline and earned him the super title "PURU : SHOTTHAMA".

 

In Andhra Pradesh, Sri Ramanavami is celebrated at several places

but the very prominently at BHADRA CHALAM. One of the significant

events of the celebration is the re-enactment of the wedding ceremony

of Lord Sri Rama & Sri Maatha Sita Devi known as

Sitha Ramulua Kalyanam.

It is celebrated with great pomp and show, a worth seeing

Kalyanotsavam.

 

You are invited to participate in the event , JETUSATLHVT members

will meet on 04/21/02 at Sureesh & Hyma's house.

 

The program will begin sharply at 10:30 A.M. so we encourage all the

participants to come little early so that the program could start

and end in a timely fashion.
