Guest guest
Sreemathe Ramanuja Namaha ========================================= Thirukkolurammal Varthaigal (TV) - Part I (Introduction) ======================================== This an English translation of TV from 12000 vakya Guruparambharai. Adiyal had never attempted to write or translate anything before and have tried to stick with the original version. In this writing Adiyal takes credit only for the errors. This work is submitted to the Holy Feet of my Acharya H H TRIDANDI SRIMANNARAYANA RAMANUJA JEER SWAMI. (affectionately known as CHINNAJeeyar Swami) With perumal's nirhetuka kripa adiyAl is able to start this kainkariyam ______ Introduction: ======== In Emberumanar's life some events may be of very little significance, but knowing them makes us think and in some instances even chills and thrills us. Though He was Jagad Guru He was a child at heart, with very simple living and was easily accessible to the helpless children, women and all devotess. In one instance, in the streets of SriRangam some little children were playing with sand, creating a Temple, God and Prasadam. When Udayavar went by, the children walked up to Him and said " Swami, Here is Your Perumal, Here is Perumal's Prasadam, please accept this and they gave Him a fistful of sand (the pretend Prasadam). Udayavar uttered"Danyosmi"(Thank you) with grace and accepted the sand prasadam in His Kashayam. This graceful act of Udayavar made the children very happy, and thus Udayavar Himself. Another time Swami went to AlwarThirunagari to do Mangalasasanam for Swami Nammalwar and Vaithamanidhi Perumal and Thayar, and was heading towards Thirukkolur, Avatharasthalam of MadhuraKavi Alwar. He encountered a lady moving out of that Holyplace with her bags. This distressed Udayavar very much. As she did her pranamams to Swami Ramanuja He asked her " Lady, Where are you going and why are you leaving this Holy place?" The lady replied (with frustration)" I am leaving Thirukkolur, what is the difference where I go?". For this Emberumannar replied "Thinnamen Elamman Pugummor Thirukkolure 6-7-1, Thiruvai Mozhi), it is for going in to live not to leave, with whatever hardship isn't it better to live in this holy place than anywhere else?" The lady replied with tearful eyes "SWAMI,it doesn't matter where I live, I am an ignorant woman, I have not done any great sacrifices good deeds, I don't deserve to live in this Holy place," . Then she went on to give 81 reasons why she is unfit to live there. This is an excerpt from 12000 padi Vakya GURUPARAMBARAI by Pillai Lokam JEER. Among the 81 reasons some instances are from Ithihasas, some from Alwars and Achrya's life stories. Except for a couple of episodes that are doubtful (which is felt to have been added later from Udayavar's life) the rest of the instances quoted are authentically verifyable. Here are some of the reasons THIRUKKOLUR AMMAL gave, that made her unfit to live in Thirukkolur. Adiyal 1) did NOT say will bring Krishna like Akkrura 2) did NOT give my heart like Vidhura 3) didn NOT give up my life like Rishi's wife 4) did NOT have a strong mind like Piratti 5) didn NOT bring back the dead like Thondamaan 6) did NOT feed the Lord like Kanda Karnan 7) did NOT dressup SITADEVI as a mother 8) did NOT go searching for a father like Durva 9) did NOT say the 3 words like Shatra Bhandhu 10) did NOT get blessed by the THIRUVADI of SRI RAMA like Agalya Adiyal will attempt to re-write the story for each point & then give the moral of the story. As most of you in these groups are very learned people. These could be used as bedtime stories for children. =======End Introduction ================== To be continued.
