Githa jyothi and Ramanavami celebrations at Staten Island, New York.

Om Namo Narayana

The Githa is a lamp from God,

A sword of truth and light;

It searches heart and soul and mind,

And helps us know what's right.

Any book can inform

Githa can only transform .

We celebrated Ramanavami on 04/21/02 at Local Ramalayam. Thiruvaradhanam

(pooja) performed followed by Bhajans and recitation of Second chapter

Githa slokams. We also took one sloka (#191)from Balakandam of Ramacharitha

Manas by Shri Tulsidasji . The translation of the slokam is as follows:

At the time of birth, Lord Shri Ramachandra appeared with chathur pujas

(with a counch shell,a discuss, aclub and lotus). Shrimathi Kowsalya devi

requested Shri Rama to "give up the super human form and indulge in childish

sports, which are so dear to mother's heart; the joy that comes from such

sports is un equaled in every way" . Hearing this words the all wise Lord

of immortals became infant and began to cry as a normal human baby.

Adieyen do not know whether , similar slokam is available in Valmiki

Ramayan, but we all enjoyed the Lord's Mathru bakthi anubhavam. The

function concluded with Pallandu, vazhi thirunamam and thitha prasadam.
