Guest guest
Dear Sudhaji, With complete surrender to Acharya Ramanuja.... > Sudha wrote... A teacher wants a student to > do his homewrok pefectly and not to praise > him. Similarly a man should do his worldly > duties perfectly. Does he need to praise > the teacher again and again?? Why praise Lord? Here is rough translation of of a discourse by Acharya Ramanuja Jeeyar Swami {Part 2- concluding part} ____ ji:va has gyana and if one needs a:nanda one should associate with paramatma. The closer we get the more a:nandam we get. We will become like Him. If we surrender to nature we wont achieve this state. Now gyana can't sit tight even if you force it. Just like water flows, air flows, the our gyana wants to 'flow'.If water does not flow, stagnated water becomes impure and of no use. If air does not flow in a room then it will become life threatening. gyanam should become action oriented as that's it's nature. If we go towards God then we will attain this a:nandam. What does 'going towards God' mean? Is it flying towards God in the sky, going to the temple and sitting, is it praising lord thousands and thousands of times, is it breaking lots of coconuts, is it making large large garlands and offering in the temple, is it making a lot of food and distributing to everyone, giving harathi to God and doing pallandu pallandu? No, these are just means ( one of the several ) that will channel us and condition us so that we will attain this supreme state of a:nandam. We see a lot of people doing rituals in the world. Even after doing rituals if one does not experience this channelization then it is of no use just like 'elephent taking bath' and like trying to mix water with oil. So if this supreme everlasting feeling which all of us want, should be within then why do all these? But if we really start chanellising our energies towards paramatma and start attaining a:nandam then it will automatically express itself in some form or another just like if there is a lamp lit then the light spreads around, if there is a nice perfume sprayed the same will spread around. Similarly the inner conditioning will express itself. Love inside cannot be suppressed. A mother loves the child. If a child is trying to walk and falls in a swamp the Mother even though might be wearing costly dress will immediately pick up the child and tries to please and console the child. The Real Mother does not say, Love should be inside, " I love you kid but wash yourself, change your clothes and stop crying. I can't touch you because I am wearing costly dress" Love instigates action. The action and the thought should go in a mutually coordinated way. Only then we can recognize there is true Love. If there is something superficial then there is no guarantee that it exists inside. But by putting things on the top then there is chance that if one conditions slowly there is a chance of inculcating the habit of us depending on paramatma rather than prakruthi. So one needs to do all the rituals and not give up. If one starts doing such activities then the world will start praising the devotee which we daily see in day to day life. So atleast for the sake of world and others to keep up to the impression, one will start moving towards a:nandam slowly and steadily. One should Love Bhagavan, who is with us, unconditionally and compeletely, chant His Nama continuously, whole heartedly experience Bhagavan's swarupa-rupa-guna-vibuthis and since Bhagavan is everywhere everytime and we should realize that we are a part of Him. If one decides to enjoy a:nandam from prakruthi which is visible, which makes one attract to it easily, without realising and experiencing Lord then instead of getting a:nanda then one will end up losing a:nanda state and might get some happiness which is very temporary. So now everyone wants a:nandam. Everyone wants this to be continuous and - nitya a:nandam and we would love if we experience all the time - maha a:nandam. If we seek maha a:nandam, then we need to surrender to Paramatma say Upanishads. Hope this answers your wonderful question. Please feel free to ask more questions.
