importance to mangalasutra and jilakara bellam in the wedding

Dasohms to Sri Sri Sri Jeeyar Swami,

 

Right from my child hood I had attended

so many marriages.In my child hood I

observed the marriages,particularly in

olden days the marriage started with

kanyadanam then jilakara bellam. But now

a days MARRIAGES are starting with

jilakarabellam then kanyadanam. I would

like to Know which has to perform first

as per our sastras.

 

I asked one or two siddantis in this regard

they said first kanyadanam then jilakarabellam.

please clear my doubt.

 

Please advise the public in this regard so

that they can perform the marriage in right

way. MY second doubt is in marriages people

using thread mangalasutra, after sixteenth day

celebrations they are shifting to gold chains.

which one is good and preferable as per shatras?

 

Please forgive me if I am wrong asking such

questions.
