Sri:mathe: Ramanujaya Namaha!

Sri Jeeyar Thiruvadigale: Saranam!!

As Sri Rama was leaving for the forest on his

father’s command and Lakshmana who was adept at

following him was accompanying him, their mother

Sumitra told Lakshmana, “ Sri Rama is your father,

your mother is Si:tha and the forest is Ayo:dhya,

follow them to the forest.” Following her words and

augmenting her delight, Sumitra:nandavardhana left

for the forest. Lakshmana’s love for his dear

brother is quite evident from this incident.

Si:tha is the dearest wife of Sri Rama. She is love

incarnate who dwells in Rama’s heart always and for

Rama she is His life. Rama’s welfare is her welfare.

She was born in the Janaka vamsa which followed

and practised tradition. She is just like Mo:hini who

fascinated the world with her ma:ya. If anyone looks

at her, she appears as if the amazing divine energy

of Sri:maha:Vishnu has been standing there in the

feminine form as Sitha. She is the incarnation of

Sri Maha:lakshmi who is the dearest consort to Sri

Maha:Vishnu. She is ‘sarva lakshana sampanna’. She

is the noblest among the women folk. She is Si:tha

meaning she was not born from a mother’s womb but

appeared from the Earth while ploughing the field.

Sitha, with incessant love for Rama and unable to

live even for a single moment without witnessing Sri

Rama’s divine 'soundaryam' followed him voluntarily to

the forest. Si:tha followed Rama like Lady Rohini who

would follow Chandra unable to stay away from him.

Sitha, Rama and Lakshmana started for the forest.

King Dasaratha and the subjects followed them for some

distance, feeling miserable to leave them . They reached

‘Srigiberapuram’. Rama who had left behind his

father and the people of Ayodhya earlier, left off

even the charioteer Sumanthra on the banks of river

Ganges, instructing him not to accompany them any

further.

Sri Rama has ‘sousi:lyam’. Guha , the Nishada Chief

lived in Srigiberapuram. He has great love for Rama.

Since Rama had the great dharmas like ‘a:sritha

va:tsalyam’ and ‘sousi:lyam’, he fondly approached

Guha knowing his love for him though he was in no

way comparable to him either by his birth or nature.

Rama took him close to him. Till then SriRama who

was with Lakshmana and Sitha was not that happy but

when he joined with Guha he experienced the joy of

his togetherness with Sitha and Lakshmana.

To be continued....

Jai Srimannarayana!!

Ramanujamma Mudumbai,

Ramanujadasi
