Guest guest
Dear Sir, I am writing from Malaysia. Thanks for invitation. Frequently I hear Tamils lamenting about their loss of identity and on problems in keeping up with the more progressive races such as the Europeans and Americans. In an answer to this question on Tamil identity, I have tried to create an archetype of Tamil identity taking a cue from object modelling used in IT. Please feel free to improve on it..[As is possible in all object modelling there can be subgroups but are not discussed here] Kindly note that I prefer to go for an 'as ought to be' model instead of an 'as is model'. The objective is obviously design in nature to work towards an universal common identity among Tamils for collective benefit. My approach could be radically different from those used by ethnologists but please bear with me. I hope that it is succinct: TAMIL IDENTITY: ObjectName : Tamil Identity [ Ask: Do I have..] Attributes: [ Read this way: I have....] -Tamil Name -Tamil Consciousness -appreciation of Tamil -appreciation of Tamil arts -knowledge of Tamil History -Tamil Culture -Belief in one God -thinking I am Tamil -Universal Tamil Brothehood -excellence in Thinking -excellence in Leadership -excellence in accomplishment -excellence in Collaboration -excellent Health Functions [Read this way: I do...] -speak Tamil -write Tamil. -read Tamil -pray to one God. -support Tamil Business. -research Tamil history -share Tamil knowledge. -communicate with worldwide Tamils -create and support tamil institutions -develop and grow political shrewdness -develop and grow skills -develop and grow networks -safeguard Tamil knowledge -employ Tamil in knowledge development -learn Tamil arts. GOING FORWARD In going forward, one key determinant is understanding what is holding us back. If these can be identified and agreed, it would bring us one step close to appropriate solutions. Five key areas of concern for worldwide Indians, which I name as Corepodore,(pronounced corpodor) an acronym made up of the first two letters of the following: a. Collaborative Management. b. Resource Development. c. Political Shrewdness. d. Documenting and bench marking. e. Real Estate ownership. I am asking for your views of this discussion group the above, that in itself is a constituent of the first item, collaborative management. Regards, Sathia.
