Guest guest
The Bible and Santana Dharma The Torah or Five Books of Moses, the Prophets and Kings are all simply a record of a Bronze age Tribe¹s chauvanistic political, social and religions imperialism. There is no philosophy or esoteric teaching in the bible other than some "subhashitas" in the Book of Ecclesiastes. To equate this tribal record with the philosophy of Sanatana Dharma I feel is drawing a rather long bow. Especially since some very monstrous things have been espoused and sanctioned by Jehovah such as ethnic cleansing the Israelites were the only tribe on earth to have successfully exterminated seven entire nations every massacre being faithfully recorded in the books of Deuteronomy and Joshua. The anger, hatred, wrathfull imprecations and total lack of compassion of this Jehovah cannot in any way be equated with the compassionate nature of Sriman Narayana (saulabhya and saushilya). I think these books: Bible and Quran should be left for their respective believers to do with as they wish Sanatana Dharma is rich enough in itself and stands alone without seeking to justify or support our spiritual tradition with spurious validation from other traditions especially those of the Abrahmic co-alition. Guest guest
Dear learned members, First one has to learn how to distingush Abrahamic religions from Eastern Thought. Just blindly giving discourses on comparison of East vs West does not make sense at all. Abrahamic religions are surviving because of Aristotlian logic of Duality- I reposting the first 2 para-s of the abstract of "Aristotle's Logic of Duality vs. 'sarvam Khalu idam brahma', which will be discussed at forthcoming WAVES conference @ UMAss, dartmouth around 12-15 of July. --------------- The notion (or reality) of Brahman or Paramatman of the Astika traditions is fundamentally different from that of God in western traditions of the last 2,300 years. Likewise, definitions, perceptions and practices of religions fundamentally differ in the East from those in the West. It is proposed that this East vs. West dichotomy resulted from Aristotle's logic of duality that separated body and spirit indelibly in the West. Aristotle kept our common God outside the universe, ushering in several centuries of man-to-man conflicts, exploitations, slaveries, wholesale murders, and tyranny. ---------------- Aristotle's duality is of matter and Spirit (God), i.e., matter is totally devoid of Spirit: "we and everything in this universe are pure matter-energy ensemble, GOd exists outside of it and controls it." It is logic of ignorant mind, really. -------------- Recently, We notice how English educated hindu-s are selling hindu thoughts to NON-hindus in such a way that our teachings are similar to Abrahamic religions. It is the current state of english educated hindu, who lost the foundations of Hindu-tva. It is pretty sad to see such souls. This era ended by Swami Vivekaananda(who compared the God of bible to Maaaya), Arabindo. Best Regards, Venkateswara Reddy
