The reference which you have given doesn't convince

me. In all these pasurams our alzwars have just said

Lord Krishna was there in the battle field along

with arjuna or pandavas.

 

I have found out a reference in thiruvaimozhi which

gives a direct reference of Lord krisha telling BG ...

it is

"Arivinaal Kuraivilla agalnyalath avar ariya neri

yellam eduthu uraiytha nirai nynathorumoorthi....."

 

This pasuram comes in seven hundred in thiruvaimozhi

(ezhaam pathu)...

 

It would be fine if u can give some references which

convince like the one above....

Dear Sri.Sriraman,

Thanks for the nice reference on

GeethAchAryan in the Divya Prabandham. As AdiyEn

mentioned, there should be more direct references if

we go through other verses of the Divya Prabandham,

and more significantly in the light of PoorvachArya's

works like Bhagavad Vishayam(which AdiyEn am

deficient).

See here guru mugamaai - as a teacher who taught -

is a direct reference to teaching of geetha

 

2 incidents referred here are very clear relating to

maha bhaaratham

 

1. Marumagan than santhathiyai - the ward of abhimanyu

- in the womb of uththarai - later king parikshith -

saved by none else than krishNa when uththarai

delivered the charred body - due to the

paaNdava asthiram sent by

aswaththaama - krishna gave life to that charred

portion - that "nithya

brahmachaari touch" gave life - uyir meettu.

 

2. Maiththunanmaar - the 5 paaNdavaas were saved from

going down as great sacrifice in the war with those

kouravaas, when arjuna - the mainstay of paandavaas

refused to fight - he, the great lord of lords krishNa,

became a teacher in that war arena - to teach that

greatest of great epic srimadh

bhagavath geethaa - gurumugamaaik kaaththaan.

Dandams to HH Sri Sri Sri Ramanuja Chinna Jeer Swami

 

Dear Friends,

 

Regarding BhagavadGita and the Azhvar verses, there can not be any

doubt that there is close connection. Frequently when one's reading

the latter, one recalls relevant passages from the Gita which have

the same thought. Thus it is evident that the Azhvars have made the

same teaching very accessible.

 

Some examples:

 

Poykai AzvAr

Ist tiruvantAti 7 cf BhG 7.20, 22, 25

Ist tiruvantAti 44 cf BhG 7.21, 4.11

Ist tiruvntAti 47, 50 cf BhG 6.10, 12-15, 30

 

Tirumazicai AzvAr

nAnmukan tiruvantAti 81 cf BhG 14.3

 

Direct references to the Gita are somewhat fewer. But one reference

that may help is:

 

cEyan aNiyan ciRyan mikap periyan

Ayan tuvaraik kOnAy ninRa - mAyan anRu

Otiya vAkkatanaik kallAr ulakattil

EtilarAm meyjnAnam il.

(nAnmukan tiruvantAti 71)

 

They that have not learned

the sacred utterance

He made then as

Lord of Dwaraka,

Cowherd boy, our God

He that is

Far, near, small, very big

Are but enemies of Bhagavan in this world

and devoid of true knowledge.

 

The traditional commentaries, i.e., that of Sri PeriyavAccAn PiLLai

Swamy and the gloss thereof by Sri AppiLLai Swamy, explain 'anRu'

('then') as bhArata yuddham and 'Otiya vAkku' ('sacred utterance') as

caramazlokam i.e., sarvadharmAn parityajya mAmekam zaraNam vraja etc

(BhG 18.66).
