Guest guest
Dear Devotees, I am a person trying to believe the existance of S anatan Dharma. I want to put following questions to all believers. 1) Why India was defeated so easily and occupied by various agressors like Mangols,Arabs,Afghans or Europeans? 2) They fought among each other to emerge victorious but no Indian ruler seems to stumble them(few exceptions like Rana Pratap,Sri Krishnadeva raya.Shivaji etc) 3) What was the reason behind Buddhism disappeared in India? 4) Are vedas superior to Upanishads or vice versa? Or do they both deal same? 5) As of now there is no evidence of Saraswati Valley civilization. It is a belief, right? 6) Then how can we say that there exists Dharma 3000 years back? or any time? 7) Is Karma the cause of all our disturbances/difficulties? If so majority people in India are sinners or what? If so, for how long have they been sinners? What is remedy? 8) Why do western countries are more prosporous and lead decent way of life and not India? Can we say they peope are with good karmas/vasanas in previous incarnations? I agree above questions are sensitive but they are after me and haunting whenver I try to believe or defend. I will be glad if any devotee can try to answer so that I will keep it and enhance my understanding. Guest guest
Dear Jaya Kishore Pattaswamy: There are several reasons why India was repeatedly defeated by invaders. Here are some: 1. They did not follow Kautliya Sastra which required that king must be protected by trusted people, must know enemy before starting a war, must not let any soldier leave the camp (which could be disastrous if he is captured or leaks the secrets), must use all means to kill the enemy king, must use all means to get information about enemy king, must have high standards for the army, and army must be trained thoroughly. No means should be considered evil to kill the opponent. 2. Our kings follow Dharma Sastra. They will not fight after dusk, will not attck women, will not attack cows, and will not kill the opponent when he is cornered, not fully armed, or when he asks for forgiveness. 3. Used stupid elephants who were giants, but were very slow, were afraid of fire, and if injured will run backward to kill their own army. 4. Lack of Unity and Patriotic Feeling: Every defeat seems to be related to such a reason. Jai Chand, Ambhi, Tilak, and many such rogues supported invasion or aided with invaders. Sindh was lost because the army chief defected, Punjab was lost to Britishers after Ranjit Singh because several sikhs defected. Sikhs gave saropa to General Dyer after Jalainwallah massacre and in 1857 sided with these britishers. 5. Lack of preparation. Many kings took their concubines to the war field, and rather than preparing for war, spent time doing romance. Many people blame Buddhism for defeat of India, but there is not even a single instance when Buddhist king was defeated by Muslim or he invited Muslims to attack India. Every king defeated was Hindu and every defector was Hindu. 2. There are several reasons of disappearnce of Buddhism in India. a. Many universities were destroyed by Muslims. Universities include: Nalanda, Jagdalla, Vikramshila, Odantapuri, Valabhi etc. Many others stopped operating because of lack of royal support. b. Buddhists were mainly concentrated near universities. When universities were destroyed, there was no monks left to preach masses. c. Hinduism grew popular. Buddhism accepted many Hindu beliefs, and Hindus accepted many Buddhist beliefs. The result, it dissolved into Hinduism. d. Some kings were giving hard time to Buddhists. Holy tree at Bodh Gaya was nearly destroyed by Hindu king Sasank in 7th century AD. Sena rulers gave very hard time to Buddhists in Bengal, Bihar, etc. in 13th century AD. e. Some Buddhists had become arrogant. Buddha was a gentle soul, but some Buddhists were critical of Hindu books and their gods. This was not accepted by masses. 3. Upanishads are in a way superior because emphasis is on Brahman rather than Vedic rituals. But the essence comes from Vedas. 4. Saraswati is believed to have flowed in Pakistan are around 1900 BC. Then due possibly to some earthquake it shifted direction and possibly merged with Indus or some other river. There seems to be a proof that Saraswati did exist. 5. Indians believed in oral transmission of Dharma. Writing of holy books were either forbidden or there was emphasis on direct transmission of dharma from Guru to Shishya. So writing was not considered necessary. Oral tradition do point out Dharma existed >3000 years ago. Rest next time Vir Gupta
