Guest guest
Dear Sri Venkatesan, There may be something more to be added to the para below : "While both enjoy the wealth, since one person struggled to obtain his wealth it is tinged with some pain; whereas the other person got his wealth easily and therefore enjoys it more. Similarly the wealth of knowledge obtained through Thirumanthra by the grace of an acharya will be most pleasing." The person who got the wealth easily, may not care about it as much as the person who had earned it through hard work. This is in day to day life. It may be true in this case also. Our aacharya:s had done extensive research for the sake of us and finally gave us these gems and sUtrAs ( this mumukshuppadi graced Sri Pillai LokAchArya swami varu ) in the most easily understandible ways. Today, the basic tenets of our philosophy can be verily easily understood by all of us. This is due to the immense hard work that our AcharyAs & rishIs had done. There is a danger here though. As everything comes to us, with real ease, we may get the pride that we are highly knowledgeable. Otherwise, how on earth can we understand the essence of all the vEdAs in such a short time ( Actually it was due to the grace of our AchAryAs - which we forget ). This can do two things : 1) Extreme pride which hampers the practice of the gained knowledge. ( Already, without this pride, it is highly difficult to put it into practice. ) 2) Showing disregard to such knowledge, thinking that it was easily earned and it is not such a great knowledge as anybody can understand it ( but we forget the immense efforts of our rishIs & AchAryAs, who had summarized all that vEdAs which cannot be understood by us directly, protected them from being mis-interpreted from time to time, encapsulated them thru the purANAs, to bring them to us in the easiest possible way ). If we started that quest, each and everyone of us could have ended up at a different conclusion. So, the wealth that was easily earned could be lost, just like a spendthrift son wasting all the hard earned wealth of his father. So, though the wealth of Tirumantra can be easily attained thru the grace of our AchArya, only the one who has real faith in it & only the one, who can do anything to follow his AchAryA's will, will be actually able to safeguard that wealth. Though the AchArya out of his compassion, is ready to give the upadESham to all, it is the responsibility of the disciple to safeguard it and it depends on his qualities. So, this posting has to be in conjunction with the previous posting ( 06 ), in which the qualities that a proper disciple must possess were mentioned. It is only after acquiring these, that this easily obtained wealth can be safe guarded. The safe guarding part ( later part ) is really difficult in this case & more difficult is having the qualities of a true disciple ( preceeding part ). And this shows the beautiful flow, of this excellent series. Sri Pillai LokAchArya TiruvadigalE SharaNam. Jai Sriman Narayana Maruthi Ramanuja Das.
