Guest guest
Dear Sri Maruthi Pavan, You bring up several interesting and important points. As I was typing up that line, I was wondering how it was going to be read. Common sense is the opposite: that is, that which is obtained by hard work is more pleasing than that which is obtained easily. Yet the opposite was being stated. You are right that this statement cannot be taken in isolation. The nature of a disciple which was shown by none other than Sriman Narayana as described in the prior sutras is very important here. The humility that is required for a sishya is now further clear. Debt to an acharya for revealing such an easy path is now increased multi-fold. Recently I asked Sri Velukkudi Krishnan Swami about the nature of an acharya. His answer was that I should not worry about it - I think his point was that we should worry about the nature of a disciple and see if we fit the bill. Once we attain the right status to be a disciple, He will send along the right acharya for us. One has to remember that these rahasyas were not freely available to everyone once upon a time. Only after careful selection did the acharyas teach theses manthras to disciples (recall Srimad Ramanuja's 18 trips). Ramanuja did break the norm of the day and make it available to all of us, but as Sri Manavala Mamuni says in his Upadesa Raththinamalai, Ramanuja opened it not just for anyone, but to all those who are seriously interested and willing to learn. Again, that means to all true disciples. And a true disciple will safely guard this tremendous wealth and greatly appreciate His krupa and his acharyas krupa in providing these jewels to him. Nothing less is required of us. Your note also makes another point very clear. These granthas have to be learnt at the feet of an acharya. This series is only an introduction, but in order to understand it fully one has to seek a scholar and learn it in an interactive manner. adiyEn madhurakavi dAsan TCA Venkatesan --- Maruthi Pavan <maruthi84 wrote: > Dear Sri Venkatesan, > There may be something more to be added to the para below
