Thirukkarthi, starts from the Thirunakshatram (birth start)

of Thirumangai Alwar ie., most of the times from the

Ka:rthi:ka Pu:rnima. It will be observed till the Hastha star

comes in Pushya Ma:sam ie., till the birth star of SriKurathalwan.

Approximately the time will be one & a half to 2 months. During

that period all the tamil prabandhams will be stopped from chanting.

 

Upade:sa Ratnama:la & Thiruvaimozhi Nu:tthanda:di, will only be

chanted in temples and houses also. Tamil prabandha commentaries

preaching also will not be there, except of Thiruppavai during

Dhanurmasam. These are the main things that are to be observed. Rest

of the manthras and Veda chantings are OK!

Humble prostrations to HH Sri Jeeyar Swami.

 

The clarification given by Jeeyar Swamiji regarding

Tirukarthigai is very informative. In all the

srivaishnava temples irappathu and pagalpathu are

celebrated with the paaraayanam of the naalaayiram

during the month of margazhi. Your Holiness has

stated that the naalaayiram will not be recited during

the month of margazhi. Adiyen request your holiness

to enlighten adiyaars like me.
