Some qualities of non-vaishnavas

Dear all,

Jai Srimannarayana,

Following are the 9 qualities of non or bogus Vaishnavas.

1. Being self-centered

2. Expertise in the matters of ignorance

3. Being jealous of saints and real Vaishnavas

4. Harming others (physically or mentally)

5. Being involved in immoral activities

6. Not doing what they speak or speaking what they

can't do (hypocrisy)

7. Completely low intelligence (in understanding the

temporary nature of this world)

8. Being proud of their birth, language, education...

(or too much attached to the bodily possessions)

9. Having worthless goals

Generally these qualities make a person famous(?) in

this Kali Yuga. So we see many bogus Swamis/sages

cropping up in the society without any geniune purpose

of leading people to the natural state of the soul.

For example, a famous scientist or an aggressive

pursuer of modern education can be understood to be

famous in the public by quality 2, even though all

that he is doing is, wasting his time in the affairs

of this "EVER CHANGING" nature & people...similarly

there are many who have become famous by involving

themselves in harming others, by being hypocrits etc.

As told by Sri Shuka Maharshi "Kale:r Do:sha Nidhe:

Ra:jan...", our appreciation of such people in some

corner of heart shows that we are also unable to

distingiush between what is knowledge and what is

ignorance.

We spontaneously "feel" something great about a Ph.D

from M.I.T but our heart never "feels" the same kind

of deep admiration for a simple Vaishnava worshipping

Lord in some remote village of India.

The lack of such genuine appreciation shows that we

are in the above category also (quality 7).

Amazingly, completely reverse the above qualities

and read them once again, you have a nice set of gem

like shininig qualities of real Vaishnava.

To practise utmost respect, humility and tolerance

in his dealings with others and being ALWAYS sensitive

to social propriety are the marks of a saint.

Just some thoughts,

Jai Srimannarayana,

Sheshagiri
