Sri:mathe: Ramanujayanamaha!

Jeeyar Thiruvadigale Saranam!!

Here Bharatha did not rule ‘his’ kingdom. He was not the king. The rulers

were SriRama’s Paduka:s. What he did was executing ‘Ra:ma:jna’. Bharatha had

proved to the world that conducting oneself in this manner in one’s life

would not be a ‘bandha he:thuvu’ (binding factor) but it would be ‘mo:ksha

he:thuvu’ (facilitates the attainment of ‘mo:ksha’).

After Bharatha had gone to Chitraku:ta from Ayodhya, Rama glowed with

happiness.

Rama who was very much worried that his brother Bharatha and the purohiths

might compel him to withdraw his oath was extremely relieved when Bharatha

agreed and went back. So he became radiant. So Sri Rama is referred as

Sri:mantha. Even when forced by Bharatha, he did not go back from his

promise to his father. So he is ‘Sathya sandha’. Though many tried to

convince him of the pleasures of royal life, his attention never turned

towards them and he was not tempted. So he is ‘Jithe:ndriyudu’.

Such Rama, with strong determination to keep up his promise made to his

father, feeling that the people might come again and compel him and deter

him from fulfilling his oath, Rama with single minded devotion to execute

his father’s order, arrived at Dandaka:ranya. Since it housed many demons he

went there with extreme care.

‘Rajeeva Lo:chana’ SriRama entered the thick forest. Sri Rama did not feel

sorrowful or worried for entering the woods. His eyes bloomed with joy to

see the wonderful scenes. He was very happy. To point out that fact it was

mentioned :

“ra:mo: ra:ji:va lo:chanaha”

Soon after they entered that forest, one demon by name Vira:dha appeared

before them and first abducted Sitha and later left her, carried Rama and

Lakshmana. Seeing her agony for that, unable to bear to see her in distress,

wishing to remove her sorrow they both killed that demon. Then they visited

the sage Sarabhanga. Here in the slo:ka,

‘vira:dham ra:kshsam hathva: Sarabhangam dadarsa ha’

exclamation ‘ha’ is used. One would wonder what strange thing had occurred

there!

To be continued………

Jai Srimannarayana!!

Ramanujamma Mudumbai,

Ramanujadasi.
