Guest guest
Sri:mathe: Ra:ma:nuja:yanamaha!! Jeeyar Thiruvadigale: Saranam!! Then rishies like Vaikha:nasa and Va:lakhilya wishing that SriRama should exterminate the ra:kshasa:s who were troubling them and facilitate continuation of their ‘thapas’ uninterruptedly prayed to him, “Being the king of this land, we living in here can only be rescued by You. Either in the city or in the woods, only you can eliminate our enemies and provide happiness”. SriRama readily promised that he would get rid of the ra:kshasa:s. It was not out of hatred towards the rakshsas and asuras that SriRama wanted to kill them. Unless those demons who were hindering the practising of dharma by the rishies, were not eliminated, the dharma would not become strong footed for ‘lo:ka rakshana’. So SriRama had to kill them. The sages who lived in Dandaka:ranya were pious like the ‘agni’. They wouldn’t wish for anything. Their nature is akin to agni which purifies who ever approaches it. They eradicate people’s sins and make them holy. SriRama took an oath to eliminate their enemies as it would pave the way for establishing the good of the mankind. While he was living in that Dandaka:ranya, Surpanakha the demon came in disguise to Sri Rama with infatuation. He entrusted her to Lakshmana, who disfigured her by cutting off her nose and ears. On her instigation, fourteen thousand rakshasa:s, Khara, Trisira and Dushana came to fight with him. SriRama killed them all single handed. On hearing the death of his kith and kin, Ravana got wild and sought Ma:reecha’s help to abduct Sitha. Mareecha warned, “ Sitha is SriRama’s strength. None can harm him when he is with Sitha.” But Ravana undeterred came to the vicinity of their hermitage along with Ma:reecha. As per his command Ma:reecha in the disguise of a golden deer took Rama away deep into the forest. On Sitha’s compulsion Lakshmana left the ashram for SriRama’s sake. Then Ravana abducted Sitha and on the way felled Jata:yu. Seeing Jata:yu lying on the ground thus and learning from him that Ravana had kidnapped Sitha, Raghava was drowned in sorrow and grieved. To be continued...... Jai Srimannarayana!! Ramanujamma Mudumbai, Ramanujadasi.
