Guest guest
All, I was recently reading an article in RedHerring Magazine and a sentence there caught my eye, "one of the core tenets of the Web - leverage the intelligence of each user for the betterment of the larger community." What a simple and yet powerful concept... There are millions of talented Hindus throughout the world. Are we leveraging our intelligence to the maximum benefit of the community? I don't think so. I think we all have so much to offer and have only scratched the surface of what we can do. If we work together, there are many projects we can complete - even if the time investment required on an individual basis is small: - organize and document all Scriptures and Literature of Sanatana Dharma (in original Sanskrit with good English translation) - and then post that to the Web and publish in well illustrated, calligraphied books. I'm trying to get a start on this at my website, DharmicScriptures.com, but I need help. - build new "Super-Temples" throughout India and the world that can be designed with new ideas and the latest technology to act as a hub for communities. We should be performing all Samskaras and marriages in temples, versus at home or in other halls. - dramatically increase Dharmic charitable funding to help speed up the development of India and particularly her poorest citizens. These charitable organizations can do much more to eradicate cultural issues (caste, dowry, discrimination against women, caring for the elderly, etc.) than any government laws can. - bring in many more young people who have been raised abroad (like me). We have many new ideas to offer (organizational, marketing, public relations, political, etc. in addition to different religious and spiritual ideas). These ideas can breathe fresh air into complacent organizations and provide a vehicle to encourage the large- scale adoption of Dharma by non-Indians; which in turn will provide a new boost of energy into Sanatana Dharma and a larger, multi-racial, global perspective. - and many more projects... I'm sure there are people out there with hundreds of ideas for projects they wish could be undertaken. Those people should speak up. For each of those persons, there are probably many more out there who want to help, but need direction. We all need each other. Please reply to this posting with: 1) Projects you'd like to see come to fruition and 2) What you think is required (people, funding, etc.) to do that If we create this Master "TO DO LIST", that may at least be a start to "leveraging the intelligence of each Hindu for the betterment of the larger community." Thanks, - Raj Mohanka
