Jai Srimannarayana!

I was listening to a Radio News Bulletin yesterday

on 1590 KLIV. It does not affect our dinner plans

but everyone might be interested to know.

Modern scientists are now predicting that the Universe

will come to end by collapsing everything into a very

small particle smaller than a proton. Of course not

in the near future but may be in 10-20 billion years.

Originally they were of the opinion that Universe will

continue to expand forever. There was an opinion that

this Universe started with a big-bang

starting from a very small matter. Some other scientists

do not believe in big-bang theory. So as Sri Swamiji said

nobel prizes were being awarded for establishing a theory,

for condemning the same theory and for re-establishing

the same theory.

In Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna has said

in 8th chapter clearly when this universe will come to

an end ...

"Sahasra yuga paryantam aharyat brahmaNo: viduhu

Ra:trim yuga sahasra:nta:m te:ho:ra:tra vido: jana:h "

He has given a life span of 100 years for Brahma.

One day (daytime portion) for Brahma is equivalent to

1000 chatur yugams for us. One night time for Brahma

is also equivalent to 1000 chatur yugams for us.

One chatur yugam is a cluster of 4 yugams

(krita yugam, tre:ta: yugam, dwa:para yugam and kali yugam)

Please correct me if I am wrong, this day portion is called

a 'Kalpam'.

Each kalpam will be ruled by 14 kings called Manus.

So each manu's period will be approximately 72 chatur yugams

Whenever the daytime portion ends for Brahma, he goes to sleep

and at that time there is a big pralayam and the whole

creation collapses into his body. When he wakes up again

after 1000 chatur yugams, the universe manifests from his

body again - of course because of sankalpam by Lord Sriman

Narayana.

So how much does this period mean in terms of years to us ?

Each chatur yugam means 4.32 million years

1000 chatur yugams or one kalpam means 4.32 billion years

So a kalpa:nta pralayam comes when this current

period of 4.32 billion years is completed or when Brahma

needs sleep and rest. How long does the pralayam stay? -

another 4.32 billion years.

So how far we are into this period of 4.32 billion years now ?

Well, we keep hearing in the sankalpam that

"Sri Mahavishno:h a:jnyaya: pravarta ma:nasya

adya brahmaNaha dwiti:ya para:rthe:

Sri Swe:ta vara:ha kalpe:

Vaivaswata manvantare:

Kaliyuge......"

(you can see maha sankalpam online at

http://www.sastrigal.com/avittam/sankalpam.html)

So we are in the current Brahma's second half of life. From panchangam

we can now that Current Brahma has completed 50 years of his life.

He started his 51st year, and today for Brahma is his first day in

51st year. This day is again a kalpam for us and it is called

swe:ta vara:ha kalpam.

In this kalpam or Brahma's day time, already 6 Manus are gone. (That

means 6*72*4.32 = 1.86624 billion years are completed)

The current Manu ruling is 'Vaivaswata Manu'

I remember Sri Swamiji saying that we are in 28th chatur yugam

- I presume that this count of chatur yugam is from

the start of this Manu period. That means 27 chatur yugams

are gone .. (27*4.32=116.64 million years are gone)

In the 28th chatur yugam we are in the kali yugam

that means krita+tre:ta+dwa:para yugams are completed

that means 3.888 million years completed

In Kaliyugam so far about 5200 years completed

So approximately 1.986533 billion years are completed

since creation of this universe and the next kalpa:nta

pralayam is 2.333467 billion years away.

I wrote this just out of curiosity and not because

I am worrying too much about the dooms day.

If this much of time is just a day of Brahma,

So far for the current Brahma 50*360=18000 such days

have passed.

How many Brahmas have passed away so far ... ? No count available

for me..

Each Brahma heads a Brahma:nDam - or this universe

- which is everything visible to us.

How many such Brahma:nDams are there ? No count available for me..

Sankalpam says .. ananta ko:Ti -- innumerable billions ...

And this whole ananta ko:Ti brahma:nDams are just

one quarter of Bhagava:n's SriShTi. This is the repeatable

part. Three quarters of his Creation is not repeatable -

not subject to these praLayas.. rebirths etc

as per the regular PuruSha Su:ktam which we chant almost everyday

in our temples and houses.

It is impossible to comprehend the viswa ru:pam of Bhagava:n

Lord Sri:man Na:rayaNa who is dwelling inside and outside

of this whole universe in every tiny particle.

Even ve:dam says "yato: va:che: nivartante: apra:pya manasa: saha"

There are no words that can describe - even imagination fails.

This is the viswa rupam which Lord Sri Krishna has shown to the

lucky Arjuna.

This viswa ru:pam is what Sri Swamiji is going to reveal us

in Gi:ta Jyo:ti lectures every wednesday..

How to cross this one quarter and enter the never repeated

three quarters of nitya vibhu:ti of Sriman Na:rayana ?

Let us follow what Sri Swamiji is saying

Let us participate in Gita Jyoti

Let us practice the personality development charts..

A Big JAI SRIMANNARAYANA!

I request HH Sri Swamiji and learned devotees to correct

me if I have mentioned anything incorrectly because of

my limited knowledge.

Jai Srimannarayana!

Murali Krishna Kalvapudi.
