Dear Greg,

 

Early this year you have asked 13 interesting questions

about some crucial points of science, during the summer

we have discussed the matter with HH Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji

and below you will find the answer. We hope it is not

too late for your project.

There are 3 realities in the world :

 

1st reality : nature , a component of 5 elements mixed

up in different proportions at different levels, forms

the body. The body consists of the skin, flesh, brain

different cells and all this are components of the matter

formed as a body from the nature only. So including the

brain, its cells and it's nervous system every thing is

included in the matter only. It has no consciousness on

it's on. It is totally an insentient object. Neither of

this components or elements has any consciousness on

it's own, but when they form as a body it is the :

 

2nd reality: which is called as soul having consciousness

as its essential feature suppling the knowledge, suppling

the consciousness that makes the all system to function

including the central nervous system (cns) receiving the

signals and sending the signals.

 

All this are done only when that consciousness permits the

system to function otherwise the system can not receive

nor produce any signals.

 

That soul migrates from body to body which are called as

death and birth. So long as that soul dwells in the body

thus long all the functioning's will take place and it is

not the science that decides the functioning of the soul.

 

Science says, as you mentioned, the system is " the light

touching the object and gets reflected to the eye, which

receives and sends the signals to the brain that perceives

the object " but the philosophy doesn't agree with it,

they say the soul from the body functions or, the soul

having consciousness as its nature releases the

consciousness and a system is build up for that.

 

The first cover, the soul has, is the intellect. The second

cover is the mind and the third one is the physical body,

which has the sensory organs etc. as its components.

 

So the consciousness flows trough them when it goes trough

the eye, depending upon the ability of the eye, that means

the physical channel, the receptivity of the light or the

objects is done by the soul only.

 

Though the eyes are there, the rays can not penetrate into

that unless the soul permits but even if the soul accepts

to receive the signals, when the external channel, the body,

is weak it can not perceive more then what the channel

permits so this are two inter-related things.

 

When the soul sends its consciousness trough the channel

that is provided, it receives the object and then it says,

" I see the object".

 

So even during the state of dreams, having records preserved

at different levels right from the body in the organism and

also the mind and the instincts at the intellectual level,

make's the soul to perceive different things even in the

state which we call dream. So it has nothing to do with the

eye if the soul wants to visualise certain objects because

the inner mechanism of the eye is under control of the soul.

 

Memory is what we call the instincts at the intellectual level.

The instinct at the level of mind we call as memory.

 

When it is at intellectual level then we call them as

instincts engraved in the knowledge it self.

 

All this can form different pictures during the state of

dream and soul can perceive all of them but when the

physical body is tired to much by exertion or any thing

like that for any unbalances also then it doesn't function

and we call it as "state of dream" but when the mind also

got exerted then the first level of the consciousness also

will not start functioning and we call that state as

"deep sleep".

 

So deep sleep is a state when soul can experience it's own

nature that is joy, just what people call as joy.

 

That is the reason, after waking up from sleep one says

that "I'm happy during my sleep, I have no pain during my

sleep".

 

When the consciousness again starts flowing out it means

the body again got relaxed so then the knowledge flows

trough the body again and different organism start functioning.

 

Then again the soul receives the different messages send by

the body either pain, joy, different touches like hard , soft,

cold and heat all this things are perceived. Then the mind

also get's awaken so different variety's of influences also

take place to judge good, bad, something which has to be done,

not to be done. all this things will take place.

 

That is at the memory level, we remember something and we

think to do something and we decide something not to do also,

all this is at the intellectual level we do, that is the

state of mind.

 

When intellectual permits then mind functions, mind permits

then senses functions, senses permit the body functions that

is how the system works.

 

Whatever the body feels by touching an object, hard substance

or soft substance, you say," it is only an image that brain

receives and it newer be a reality". It is not true that he

receives only the images of the external object it directly

perceives any thing because the consciousness directly

perceives the object trough different senses at different

levels so what ever it perceives either trough eye or trough

skin or trough the ear or nose it is the reality that perceives

and it feels the reality of the object also.

 

So it is not just an imaginary thing or it is not just the

virtual thing that it receives and experiences.

 

You say " It is only the copy of the own body" that is not

true, it receives the original thing because the consciousness

is so true as the soul is.

 

The second mechanism that works in the body and the soul are

different in each and every body.

 

They own the body and they function trough the body so the soul

is the responsible one to experience the fruit of the actions

trough the body or it is the one that experiences all the up's

and down's of the body of that particular body and again that

soul is also an independent one though it is a sentient object

still it can not function on it's own.

 

 

And there is one another:

 

3d reality that makes the soul also to function trough the body

which the Veda's call as Supreme Soul, or Universal Soul, which

is called in other words now a day by the modern world as God

and the Veda's call it as Paramatma, that is also a self conscious

being and also having the consciousness to know about all the

object of this entire universe. Beyond the universe also the

inner force is God that works trough the soul and consciousness

of the soul being activated trough the Supreme Soul or Universal

Soul starting to experience it's own records, it's own instincts

trough the body it is provided with.

 

And those bodies varies from person to person from species to

species like some move vertically some horizontally and some

fly in the sky and some move in the water all this object are

being controlled by the universal soul controlling the individual

cells of each and every object and that individual soul exists

even in a subtle form like atoms also.

 

So if you really understand this concept then we think most of

your questions will be solved and we feel that you think it

over and get back to us.

 

What we need to say here is neither the body nor the

consciousness nor the experiences are illusionary all

this are so true as your hunger and thirst are.
